Yuta Okkotsu & Toge Inumaki vs. Cursed Spirits is an exorcism performed by Tokyo Jujutsu High first-year students, Yuta Okkotsu and Toge Inumaki on several cursed spirits in the Hapina Shopping Center.
Prologue[]

Toge and Yuta are assigned with clearing Hapina Shopping Mall.
While his students are in the middle of training, Gojo sensei interrupts to inform Toge he's been specifically assigned a curse because he's the best equipped to exorcise it. He also tells Yuta to go and support Toge so he can learn from him. Yuta is still learning about the fundamentals of jujutsu. It's important for him to understand the different ways to exorcise a curse and Toge's cursed speech is a good example of a unique technique.
Gojo takes the boys to Kiyotaka Ijichi, who will escort them to their destination. Yuta is nervous about his first field assignment and Toge attempts to clam him down with a high five, but Yuta is too afraid of him to recognize the nice gesture. Before they take off, Gojo tells Yuta not to allow Rika to manifest no matter what and to only channel her power through his new katana.
Ijichi takes the students to Hapina Shopping Center, which will soon be demolished and rebuilt as a much larger shopping mall. Per an inspection, there is a group weak curses that need to be exorcised before construction begins. It's Toge's job to exorcise the curses but he's away buying cough medicine in the shopping center while Ijichi explains. The manager casts a curtain and wishes the boys good luck as they enter the abandoned section of the building.[1]
Battle[]

Toge explodes an entire swarm of curses.
Shortly after the curtain comes down, a small fish-like curse appears next to Yuta, surprising him. Soon he and Toge realize there is an entire swarm of these curses right in front of them. As they mutter about staying together, Yuta is amazed by their sheer numbers. Toge seems unphased and reveals his mouth sigils, the Snake and Fangs of the Inumaki Family. He walks towards the swarm, prompting Yuta to show caution. However, with a single command: "explode", Toge exorcises the entire swarm with a ferocious bang.
Yuta finally understands what Gojo meant by cursed speech, the ability to imbue spoken words with cursed energy, forcing those who hear it to be cursed and compelled to follow his orders. The mission appears to be over and Yuta notices that Toge's voice has gotten hoarse as a consequence of his technique, which is what the cough medicine is for.

Toge's command only manages to twist the curse's arm.
An evil sorcerer watches, Yuta and Toge realize the curtain hasn't disappeared and they're stuck in the barrier. Suddenly, another curse appears behind the boys, taking them both off guard. It uses a uses a technique to create a pillar of light that smashes the ground. Toge notices it just in time to push Yuta out of the way but he drops his medicine and breaks his finger. He attempts to exorcise the curse by commanding it to twist, but only it's arm is mangled and Toge collapses while coughing from the backlash.
The curse attempts to crush Toge with its technique but Yuta slides and grabs Toge out of the way in time. Yuta takes him to a safer area in the building, one short floor above the curse. He realizes this curse can't be the one they were assigned, as its even stronger than the giant curse from the elementary school. Toge forces his finger back into place while Yuta notices the curse isn't following them.

Yuta supports Toge and starts their counterattack!
Toge starts to go off on his own to fight the curse but Yuta expresses his concern. When Toge tries to stop him, Yuta refuses and insists they work together. Yuta steps up first to face the curse, drawing his blade and releasing Rika's power. Rika's presence immediately aggravates the curse but Yuta doesn't seem to now why. Even so, Yuta focuses on concentrating Rika's curse into the blade, successfully cloaking the katana in his cursed energy.
The curse attempts to use its technique to crush Yuta with a pillar of light, but the student uses a series of cartwheels and acrobatic flips to avoid harm. While doing so he surmises the kind of person Toge is, a very kind young man. He was just trying to clam down Yuta before the mission, and he uses a strange vocabulary to avoid accidentally cursing people.

"Get crushed!"
Inspired by Toge's kindness, Yuta closes the distance between him in the curse. He gets past the pillar of light and steps up an upper slash of his sword, landing the first blow. However, the curse's skin is extremely tough and the cut is very shallow on it's blocking hand. Suddenly, another pillar comes down and hits Yuta's head. He's able to withstand it and slides under the curse to grab the medicine Toge dropped.
Yuta's goal wasn't to fight the curse, but to make it so Toge could. He throws the cough medicine to Toge, who gulps it down in an instant. While the curse is still turned and focused on Yuta, Toge jumps down and commands the curse to get crushed, instantly killing it.[2]
Aftermath[]

Geto observing from above, having orchestrated the entire thing.
Still injured, Yuta ignores the pain and stares in amazement at Toge's power. Toge runs over to check on his peer and shows signs of concern despite not being able to directly communicate. Yuta understands Toge and suggests that he's fine despite bleeding from his head. Toge offers Yuta another high five and this time Yuta gladly returns the act of kindness.
Watching from above, Suguru Geto is disappointed his curse failed to force Rika out of Yuta. Geto did manage to take Yuta's ID card and can't wait to meet is fellow special grade sorcerer face to face.[3] After the mission, Ijichi apologizes to Gojo for not having enough thorough research on the mission site. He never expected another curtain to appear or a semi-grade 1 curse. Gojo explains that Ijichi isn't at fault because he was outclassed Suguru Geto cast a barrier over Ijichi's and spawned the unidentified curse. Gojo reminds Ijichi that Geto is the worst curse user, the man expelled from Jujutsu High for killing over a hundred civilians.[4]
