Yuji Itadori vs. Haba & Hanyu is a battle fought by Tokyo Jujutsu High first-year student, Yuji Itadori against Culling Game rookie hunters Hanyu and Haba. It took place in the Tokyo No. 1 Colony Yuji first entered the barrier and joined the Culling Game.
Prologue
Hanyu and her partner target players who are new to the colony and they make Rin Amai serve as their lookout. Rin's job is to signal them whenever someone enters the area via the unofficial rule that transports new players to one of nine locations by dropping them from the sky.
Yuji and Megumi both reach the Tokyo No.1 Colony's barrier on November 12th and the latter officially declares his participation in the Culling Game. They both enter the colony together but they're immediately separated and sent to two different locations.
Suddenly falling from the sky, Yuji is surprised and wonders what happened to Megumi. Rin sees his next target and waves his aircraft baton. Yuji sees Rin, but unbeknownst to him, the baton acts as a signal for Hanyu to attack her next vulnerable target.[1]
Battle
Hanyu flies through the sky at high speed using her airplane hair cursed technique and rams headfirst into Yuji. She hits him with enough velocity to drive him straight through two high-rise buildings. While that attack would've pulverized most new players, Yuji is mostly unscathed. Yuji manages to land on his feet and takes his battle stance. Hanyu quickly realizes that Yuji is going to be a tough opponent and calls her partner to her side.
Yuji takes advantage of this momentary distraction and launches a rock directly into Hanyu's lower abdomen. It strikes the left side of her stomach, leaving a severe bruise. Hanyu realizes that Yuji grabbed debris when he was hit through the buildings early and charged it with his cursed energy. Despite it being such a simple attack, it's more than enough to make Hanyu fall to her defeat. Yuji is surprised by how easily the airplane woman was defeated and then scolds himself for forgetting to ask about Hiromi Higuruma.
Hanyu's partner, Haba, arrives moments later. Similar to Hanyu, his cursed technique has warped his hair into a helicopter propeller. He flies over Yuji and expresses his displeasure by crushing his walkie-talkie.[2] Yuji immediately throws another rock but this time his opponent acts quickly and blocks it with his propeller. Yuji uses the distraction to close the distance, rushing Haba before leaping high into the air. He jumps high enough to grab Haba's leg with a solid enough grip to drag him down the side of a building. Haba experiences firsthand that Yuji's physical abilities are astounding but he manages to avoid major damage.
Haba forces Yuji to let go by attacking with the blades on his propeller. One blade gets close to Yuji's face, but he performs a split and gets low to the ground to avoid it. Then he jumps off the side of the building onto a lower one before circling around on more rooftops. Yuji initially thought Haba would try and use the high ground to his advantage. However, because Haba is only attacking at close range with his propeller, this makes it simple for Yuji to lead him indoors. Yuji jumps through a window into the lower floors of another building and waits at the end of a hallway for his opponent.
Well aware his adversary is baiting him, Haba surmises that Yuji is trying to negate his propeller. He counters by increasing his propeller's capabilities and entering the window at a specific angle. Confident his propeller can slice through steel rods, Haba rotates himself with great speed and rushes headfirst toward Yuji, slashing the hallway apart and threatening to make a "smoothie" out of him.
While Haba is coming at him, Yuji infers that the reason Hanyu could drive him through a building but couldn't withstand a simple projectile was because her cursed energy was focused on her hair. He thinks it was a binding vow that effectively left the rest of Hanyu's body vulnerable, including her lower abdomen where Yuji hit. Yuji assumes this same rule applies to Haba's cursed technique but is confident that he can exploit the head as a vital spot regardless. As long as Yuji can hit him at the right angle and avoid the blades, he can bust his opponent open with one punch.
Yuji delivers a powerful right straight punch directly to the top of Haba's head. This smashes Haba's propeller and cuts the top of his head open. This concusses Haba and causes blood to pour from the top of his head down his face. Yuji's knuckles are sliced open from the impact and Haba arrogantly taunts him for it. Delusional, Haba assumes Yuji broke his fist and calls him the loser of this fight. Yuji quickly silences him by delivering a devastating left sidekick to Haba's gut that's so hard it nearly protrudes his back. Haba spits up from suffering the hit to his abdomen and is soundly defeated. Yuji waves his hand around to dull the pain and clarifies that his hand isn't broken.[3]
Aftermath
With his opponent unconscious, Yuji gets frustrated and tells himself that he's now beaten two players without getting any information on Higuruma. He's unsure of how to properly ask questions in these hostile situations and kneels over Haba's body, telling him to wake up. Yuji is suddenly interrupted when Rin enters the building.
Rin claims to know about the player named Higuruma and acts like he recognizes Yuji. Rin doesn't seem familiar to Yuji even though he's usually good with recalling people's faces. He asks who Rin is and Rin notices that Yuji is getting suspicious. He clarifies that he only knows Yuji because he's the famous Tiger of West Junior High. Yuji realizes that Rin is from his hometown in Sendai and is embarrassed by the nickname.[4]
