Womb Profusion (
Description
Expanding this domain creates a totem-esque tower of grotesque, cursed spirit-like faces that are all merged together.[1] At the base of the tower are four bald spirits with eye-like markings on their shoulders and they are the only spirits with bodies. Above them is a large stack of cursed spirit heads that lack bodies and mostly have gaping mouths. There are also flesh-like objects that have many sew marks on them which are connected by arm-like appendages with the same sew marks. The objects also have branches growing out of them.
Anyone caught within the area of its can't-miss attack will be hit with explosive force similar to what's delivered by a direct hit from Maximum: Uzumaki, but the nature of the attack remains unknown.[2]
Similar to Sukuna's Malevolent Shrine, Womb Profusion is expanded without enclosing it with a barrier to create a separate space, but is instead manifested into the surrounding airspace. Due to having no defined outer shell, it cannot be easily dispelled through the manipulation of empty barriers.[3]
Usage
Yuki is struck by Womb Profusion's sure-hit.
Capitalizing on Yuki Tsukumo's hesitance to open her domain, Kenjaku was the first to use domain expansion in their fight.[4] Kenjaku expanded his domain without closing the barrier imbued with his cursed technique. The barrier is immensely powerful, as it easily stripped Yuki's Simple Domain down to nothing within a few moments. Without the well-defined outer shell of a closed barrier, Tengen struggled to target and dismantle Kenjaku's domain by dispelling the empty barrier around. Womb Profusion's guaranteed hit severely injured Yuki with a blast wave, but Tengen dispelled the domain by targeting the edge of the guaranteed hit's area of effect immediately after.[5]
Trivia
- Regarding the name of this domain:
- The first part is short for taizōkai (
胎 蔵 界 ), referring to the Womb Realm (Sanskrit: गर्भधातु, Garbhadhātu). In Esoteric Buddhism, including the Japanese Tendai and Shingon schools, the Womb Realm is the metaphysical space inhabited by the Five Compassion Buddhas, formed around the body of the Mahāvairocana buddha (Dainichi Nyorai) as the source of all Earthly compassion; the Womb Realm (graphically represented by the Womb Realm mandala) contrasts with the Diamond Realm that represents the Mahāvairocana's wisdom (with both realms' respective mandalas forming the "Mandala of the Two Realms"). - The second part, hen'ya (
遍 野 ), is based on the so-written Chinese literary term (pronounced biànyě), which literally means "blanketing the countryside" and figuratively refers to something being "all-enveloping" or present "everywhere". It has a negative connotation, as it is used in idioms like屍橫遍野 ("corpses blanketing the countryside"),哀鴻遍野 ("disaster victims everywhere"), or餓殍遍野 ("starving corpses everywhere").
