Tsurugi Okkotsu ( (おっ) (こつ) 真剣 (つるぎ) Okkotsu Tsurugi?) is a main protagonist in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo. He is a jujutsu sorcerer, the grandson of Maki Zenin and Yuta Okkotsu, and the elder brother of Yuka Okkotsu.

Appearance

Tsurugi is a teenage boy of average height, with a slender yet distinctly muscular build. His spiky black hair dramatically juts outward towards the front, framing sharp, discerning gray eyes. His facial features bear a striking resemblance to members of the Zenin clan, particularly his grandmother, Maki, and cousin, Megumi.

Tsurugi's Jujutsu High uniform consists of a brown, high-collared jacket with a full-zip closure and three-quarter length sleeves, paired with matching trousers. Underneath his jacket, Tsurugi's torso and arms are heavily bandaged from his training. He completes his attire with sandals, and his most prominent accessory, aside from his cursed tool, is his grandfather's ring, which he wears suspended around his neck.

Personality

Tsurugi is a reserved, hardworking, and usually calm young man driven by a desire to prove his clan wrong. Similar to his grandmother, he is fiercely independent and wants to demonstrate his strength, believing he doesn't need Yuta's ring for protection. He's competitive with his sister Yuka and tends to be dismissive of others, preferring to act alone. Despite their frequent clashes, he shares a mutual understanding with Yuka, particularly concerning the ring, which he intends to return to her only after he proves to the Gojo clan that he doesn't require it.[2]

In contrast to his sister, Tsurugi tries to remain levelheaded and objective. This is seen when, after the human trafficker tells him about the arrival of aliens, Tsurugi is immediately cautious of Maru and takes the initiative to investigate on his own. Despite this, Tsurugi is demonstrably a lot more immature and rash than he wants to let on. As Yuka points out, Tsurugi is the type who wants other people to see him as cool. When he and Maru encounter Osada, Tsurugi immediately tries to use his fire-based Honoyagi despite being in a forest, not realizing how dangerous this is until Maru points it out.

Tsurugi veers on the side of caution when it comes to matters of ethics. When he and Maru discover that a local tiger, Toranosuke, has been attacking the villagers, Tsurugi decides that Toranosuke needs to be put down lest he create more victims, and Tsurugi doesn't change his mind even as Maru and Osada implore him to reconsider. That said, Tsurugi is by no means heartless. After he kills Toranosuke, Tsurugi discovers that he had a cub and chooses to let it live with Osada. Furthermore, despite his suspicions of Maru, Tsurugi genuinely comes to see the Simurian as a friend.

Abilities and Powers

Overview

Overall Skill Level: Tsurugi is a talented young sorcerer possessing a heavenly restricted body with low levels of cursed energy in exchange for superhuman physical performance. He is a cursed tool user capable of attacking with New Shadow Style swordsmanship techniques. Usami, the siblings' direct superior, believes Tsurugi and Yuka are talented sorcerers comparable in strength.[3][4] However, Tsurugi has proven to be the stronger of the two in unarmed hand-to-hand combat exchanges, able to quickly overwhelm Yuka and knock her down.[5]

Physical Prowess

Enhanced Physical Abilities: In addition to being physically gifted due to his heavenly restriction, Tsurugi also exercises tirelessesly to further enhance his superhuman physical strength.[5]

Cursed Energy

Low Cursed Energy: Tsurugi's cursed energy levels are below that of an average non-sorcerer due to his heavenly restriction.

Heavenly Restriction

Heavenly Restriction
Tsurugi's heavenly restriction is the same as the one his grandmother Maki was born with. In exchange for low cursed energy, Tsurugi possesses superhuman physical gifts. Rather than fight using cursed energy, Tsurugi relies on cursed tools in combat.

Cursed Techniques

New Shadow Style Techniques
New Shadow Style: Simple Domain (シン・ (かげ) (りゅう) (かん) () (りょう) (いき) Shin Kageryū: Kan'i Ryōiki?): An anti-domain technique that neutralizes a Domain Expansion's barrier and disables its sure-hit effect. Due to his low cursed energy, Tsurugi uses the cursed energy within his cursed tool to activate this technique.[6]
Batto Sword Drawing ( (ばっ) (とう) Battō?): A New Shadow Style technique that typically uses cursed energy to surround the user's blade when sheathed, rotating it to create incredible speed when the sword is drawn. It is the fastest sword-drawing technique of the New Shadow Style.[7] When used in conjunction with the Honoyagi, Tsurugi unleashes a flaming slash that sets objects in his vicinity ablaze.[8]
Maculation ( (まだら) Madara?): A New Shadow Style technique that integrates a fully automatic attack interception function into the user's Simple Domain. This allows the user block and evade attacks from multiple opponents that enter into their Simple Domain with ease.[9]

Equipment

Cursed Tools
Honoyagi ( () () () () Honoyagi?): A katana type cursed tool that infuses its blade with sparks generated between its scabbard and guard when they're pressed together. This envelops the blade in flames when it's drawn, allowing the user to integrate fire into their sword techniques.[10]
