Threefold Affliction (
Description
Expanding this domain creates a mostly blank space with several oversized, organic structures floating within it. They resemble the disembodied brains and ventral nerve cords of insects. The sure-hit effect of the domain applies to Yorozu's constructed items.[1]
Usage
Near the end of her battle with Sukuna, Yorozu expanded her domain immediately after constructing her most powerful weapon, True Sphere. She opens her domain to guarantee the sphere makes contact with the King of Curses but hesitates to activate her cursed technique. Yorozu is concerned because Sukuna is completely unfazed by her domain and True Sphere.
Sukuna counters by summoning Mahoraga, which shatters the True Sphere with its Sword of Extermination. Sukuna bore the process of Mahoraga's adaptation while fighting Yorozu's liquid metal. With Mahoraga already adapted to Yorozu's constructions, it easily destroys True Sphere with the Sword of Extermination. While Yorozu watches in shock, Mahoraga strikes her down as well, collapsing the domain.[2]
Trivia
- The kanji of the domain's name mean "Threefold Affliction":
- The kanji shikku (
疾苦 ?) refers to the suffering brought on by illness, affliction, or simply hardship in life. Akutami uses the pronunciation shikku as a pun of the borrowed English word "sick" (シック shikku?). - Given Yorozu's excessive love for Sukuna, it is likely that the domain's name references "lovesickness", and specifically a song by Japanese VOCALOID producer PinocchioP (sung by Hatsune Miku) called "Sick Sick Sick" (シックシックシック?), which is about how love can be a sickness.
- The kanji shikku (
- The floaters within Yorozu's domain, resembling the brain and ganglia of insects, likely reference her affinity with said creature, as seen with her Insect Armor.
