Sukuna vs. Yorozu is a battle fought between incarnated sorcerers originally from the Heian Era, Sukuna and Yorozu. It occurred in the Sendai Colony during the Culling Game after Sukuna sought out Yorozu to kill her vessel with the intention of drowning Megumi's soul.

Prologue

Sukuna and Yorozu

Sukuna and Yorozu face-off in Sendai.

Sukuna uses the Bath to submerge Megumi Fushiguro's soul to gain unrestricted control over his body. After emerging from the Bath, Sukuna uses Kogane to find Yorozu's location in the Sendai Colony. Yorozu's relationship with Sukuna has always been a one-sided fascination. Kenjaku asks why Sukuna is entertaining Yorozu's invitation. Sukuna explains that Yorozu isn't important, her vessel is. By killing Tsumiki Fushiguro, Megumi will lose all will to resist and completely drown. Kenjaku agrees to take Sukuna to Sendai in exchange for Megumi's points.

Sukuna's immense cursed energy got the attention of Ryu Ishigori and Takako Uro upon his immediate entry to the colony. Uro recognizes the presence of the King of Curses and cowers in fear while Ryu can't help but try and savor another battle. He confronts Sukuna but is effortlessly dispatched after a short one-sided scuffle.

Afterward, Sukuna meets Yorozu in the same stadium where Yuta Okkotsu defeated Dhruv Lakdawalla. Yorozu notes how Sukuna has switched vessels and the latter responds by claiming he simply liked this face more.[1] She asks him why he hasn't changed his face and he reflects the question back on her. Yorozu says that they both believe it'll work better for later on. Sukuna taunts Yorozu by asking if she truly believes she'll be around later.[2]

Battle

Sukuna kicks Yorozu

Sukuna and Yorozu feel eachother out with taijutsu.

Provoked by Sukuna's taunt, Yorozu sends two large streams of liquid metal at him. Sukuna jumps above them to avoid the attack and Yorozu rides atop one of the streams in pursuit. She jumps off and engages Sukuna in hand-to-hand combat, throwing several attacks including kicks that are all parried away. Sukuna sends Yorozu back with a front kick but she defends herself from the impact by conjuring a square-shaped sheet metal. During a brief break in the action, Yorozu establishes a binding vow with a reluctant Sukuna they'll get married if she wins.

Sukuna using Divine Dogs

Sukuna uses the Ten Shadows Technique instead of his Shrine.

Sukuna summons Divine Dogs without fully manifesting them. Instead, he keeps the shikigami bound to his shadow in a fluid form to increase their attack range without risking complete destruction. Yorozu counters by blasting the shadows apart with her liquid metal. Sukuna follows up with Divine Dog: Totality, which is also still bound to his shadow. It strikes the ground with enough force to break it but Yorozu avoids the attack by jumping back. Sukuna pursues her but she quickly turns around and tries to trap him in a spiked cage of liquid metal. Sukuna avoids it by jumping high into the air but Yorozu reuses the metal by sending two arrow-tipped streams at him. Before they connect, Yorozu manually disengages the attack and asks what innate technique her beloved is using.

Yorozu is deeply insulted that Sukuna won't use his Shrine technique to the point she throws a tantrum. Sukuna is intent on only using the Ten Shadows Technique because he wants to figuratively stain Megumi's hands with the blood of his sister. Irate, Yorozu asks if Sukuna believes he can win without using his Shrine technique and constructs an insect's carapace to cover her body. Yorozu's signature insect armor is the pinnacle of her innate technique. It was developed from countless battles during the Heian Era as the most efficient possible creation. She can still manipulate liquid metal using autonomous cursed energy while clad in the insect armor. Using this fighting style, Yorozu defeated the Five Empty Generals of the Toh and was accepted into the Fujiwara clan. In response, Sukuna conjures Mahoraga's wheel above his head and states it is the perfect time for a test drive.[3]

Yorozu keeping up with Sukuna

Yorozu's signature fighting style proves a challenge for Sukuna.

Clad in her signature insect armor, Yorozu uses her increased speed and strength to land consecutive punches across Sukuna's face. She hits Sukuna with a powerful cross that sends him flying back and then circles behind him by flying with her wings. Sukuna tries to block her off by summoning more Divine Dogs from his shadow but Yorozu not only destroys the shadows but gets behind Sukuna again. She delivers a powerful roundhouse kick that sends him crashing through a wall beneath the stands of the stadium. Yorozu continues to pursue him and attempts to skewer him with numerous liquid metal spikes from all sides. Sukuna counts by summoning Round Deer, a shikigami that can output positive energy with reverse cursed technique. It dispels the cursed energy flowing through the liquid metal and heals Sukuna at the same time. The Ten Shadows Technique user follows up by summoning Piercing Ox, which rams into Yorozu with incredible force.

Sukuna summons Mahoraga against Yorozu

Sukuna adapts to Yorozu's technique using Mahoraga.

Yorozu grabs the bull by the horns and throws it back toward the center of the stadium. Piercing Ox quickly recovers and Yorozu attempts to strike it down with a reinforced punch. However, it deals next to no damage and Piercing Ox comes right back at her. It rams back into Yorozu again, cracking the armor over her left eye. She realizes that while Piercing Ox can only move in a straight line, its attacks are stronger with a longer charge. Sukuna uses Rabbit Escape to surround Yorozu and obstruct her view. He leaps high into the air and drops Max Elephant right on top of her while she's distracted. The impact generates such a large shockwave that it shakes the entire arena.

Mahoraga attacks Yorozu

Mahoraga crushes Yorozu's trump card and her last chance at victory.

The insect armor is destroyed and Sukuna finds Yorozu fallen to her knees from the damage. Unimpressed, he asks if this is all Yorozu's love amounts to. Despite this, Yorozu remains confident she can still teach Sukuna about love. He responds with a smirk that implies that he's already been taught about it but Yorozu rejects this idea immediately. Determined to show Sukuna true love, she promises to construct her heart for him.[4] This takes the form of True Sphere, a large orb made of liquid metal with no contact area, creating infinite pressure along the surface. As the sphere slowly moves forward, the ground along its path is completely erased. To ensure that True Sphere hits, Yorozu expands her domain: Threefold Affliction.

Sukuna doesn't respond by opening his domain, confusing Yorozu. Instead, the wheel on his head turns, signifying that he's adapted to her technique. Sukuna drops the wheel into his shadow and switches places with Mahoraga. Having already adapted, the Divine General easily tears the True Sphere apart with the Sword of Extermination and then strikes down Yorozu, dispelling her domain and defeating her.[5]

Aftermath

Megumi's soul submerged

With the death of his sister, Megumi's soul is fully submerged within Sukuna.

With Yoruzu defeated, Sukuna reappears before her. He tells her how things ended up this way by explaining that he's been aware that Yorozu's construction technique is inefficient with cursed energy. Knowing she had no choice but to appropriate her liquid metal into all her creations, all Sukuna had to do was adapt to it. Mahoraga's ability already did just that, making True Sphere useless against him.

To Sukuna's dismay, Yorozu is actually thrilled to learn that her beloved knows so much about her. She decides to leave him with a parting gift, constructing a replica of Kamutoke, a weapon Sukuna utilized during the Heian Era. She asks him to think of her when he uses it and to do so with care.

Yorozu, and by extension Tsumiki, perish after the battle. Megumi's soul cries for her as he's been completely submerged within Sukuna.[6][7]
