Megumi Fushiguro vs. Sukuna is a battle fought by Tokyo Jujutsu High first-year student Megumi Fushiguro and special grade cursed spirit Sukuna after he takes Yuji's body hostage outside the Eishu Juvenile Detention Center.

After successfully rescuing Nobara and escaping the detention center, Megumi notices the Domain disappears and surmises that the special grade is dead.

All Megumi needs to do now is wait for Yuji but Sukuna appears suddenly and claims the boy isn't coming back. Sukuna reveals that he has more control over Yuji's body since the boy overused Sukuna's power without restriction.

Sukuna rips out Yuji's heart, taking his body hostage.

Knowing it's only a matter of time before he loses control, Sukuna rips out Yuji's heart and claims that switching back now will kill the human boy.

Sukuna claims there is no reason for them to fight, but he plans on killing Megumi anyway. Megumi mentions that this situation is similar to the one in Sugisawa, but the roles are reversed now. [1]

Megumi believes Yuji will return regardless because that's his nature. Sukuna argues that Yuji is a coward that was beside himself while getting beaten down by the special grade. Megumi believes Sukuna is weaker without a heart and he must force him to replace it in order to save Yuji. He's uncertain if he's capable after being afraid of the special grade inside the center. Even so, Megumi knows this is something he must do. Sukuna asks that they both go all out in this fight. [2]

Megumi summons Nue and has the bird shikigami fly at Sukuna while he rushes him at the same time. Sukuna is impressed by the shikigami user who isn't afraid to fight himself. They exchange a few blows but Sukuna blocks all Megumi's strikes and strikes him back. Megumi counters by summoning his Great Serpent, which appears from underground to ensnare Sukuna in its jaw. While Sukuna is pinned, Nue strikes him in the back of the head.

Sukuna effortlessly dominates Megumi's shikigami.

Megumi's advantage is short-lived as Sukuna rips the Great Serpent to pieces with ease. Sukuna reminds Megumi that they're supposed to be going all out and throws him high into the air. Sukuna tries to hammer-fist his opponent back to the ground, but Nue appears in time to defend Megumi with its wing. Megumi knows he's outmatched due to Sukuna's insane physical strength and speed.

Nue and Megumi crash into the side of the detention center. Megumi returns Nue before it succumbs to injury and Sukuna quickly catches up to him. Sukuna says that Megumi's shikigami uses shadows as a medium and asks why he ran away from the other special grade. Sukuna claims Megumi missed an opportunity and says he'll never put Yuji's heart back at this rate.

Sukuna overwhelms Megumi with pure strength and speed.

Megumi recalls his late sister Tsumiki and how she was taken unfairly from this world. Sukuna claims Yuji isn't worth saving and Megumi is forced to remember why he saved Yuji originally. Megumi believes that the world is unfair and it's his job as a jujutsu sorcerer to save people regardless of fairness. Megumi's cursed energy swells and Sukuna believes his opponent is finally ready to go all out.

Megumi tells Yuji that he didn't save him because it was the right thing to do. He did it out of selfishness to help someone else avoid death even if it came back to bite him. Megumi believes this is okay because he's not a hero, he's a jujutsu sorcerer. Rather than forging his next attack, Megumi tells Yuji that he never regretted saving him. [3]

Despite Megumi's best efforts, Yuji dies to save him.

Moved by Megumi's words, Yuji regains control of his body. He commends Megumi for being so smart and claims that both their ways of doing things are correct. However, Yuji quickly runs out of time and he collapses, appearing to die to save Megumi from Sukuna. [4]
