Jujutsu Kaisen Wiki

Kokichi Muta ( (むた) (こう) (きち) Muta Kōkichi?) is a supporting character in the Jujutsu Kaisen series. He is a second-year student at Kyoto Jujutsu High using Ultimate Mechamaru as his proxy to attend school. Kokichi himself could not due to the sickly and fragile body he was born with as a result of his Heavenly Restriction.

Appearance

Kokichi is a slim young man with light peach skin and sharp brown eyes. He had black hair tied into a top knot above his head and the majority of his body was obstructed by the bindings of his Heavenly Restriction. His entire body was scarred with grotesquely thin wrinkled skin that he dressed in bandages. His right forearm was missing entirely and both legs were too weak to support his weight beneath the knees. Immobile, Kokichi sat inside a bathtub attached to several tubes inside a remote cave.

Following his healing at the hands of Mahito's Idle Transfiguration, Kokichi obtained a healthy body. Only a single scar on his cheek remained and he was able to stand up on his own. Like his Mechamaru stand-in at school, Kokichi donned a normal jujutsu high uniform with a white puffy scarf-like cloth around the collar of it.

Personality

Kokichi was a reclusive and reserved individual who resented being born without a future outside of the jujutsu world. He proudly admitted he'd give back every ounce of cursed energy to gain a normal body.

Kokichi's dream (Anime)

Kokichi's dream of walking among his classmates in Kyoto.

Kokichi's resentment lead to him projecting on those undeserving. During the Goodwill Event, Panda suggested he and Mechamaru should get along since they're both cursed corpses. Kokichi took exception to this and thought of Panda as nothing more than just a doll.[2] This was because Panda got to live free in the sun while Kokichi was trapped inside, ill with his restriction.[3]

Around his classmates, Kokichi embraced the quiet robotic type persona while acting as a student through Mechamaru. He wanted to walk amongst them one day in spite of his condition and however they might have treated him.[4] Kokichi felt especially close to Kasumi Miwa, who confessed to sharing romantic feelings with.[5]

In order to achieve his dream, Kokichi was willing to engage in a Binding Vow with the enemy in order to gain a healthy body. He leaked information with them but included the conditions that they couldn't hurt his fellow Kyoto students in the contract. Kokichi attempted to kill Mahito and Pseudo-Geto after his body was healed. Fighting desperately to achieve his goal, Kokichi bet everything on his planning and determination. However, his desperation, unfortunately, lead to his demise before he could meet his classmates and Kasumi.[6]

Abilities and Powers

Overview

Mechamaru kicks Mahito (Anime)

Kokichi momentarily overpowering Mahito while piloting Mechamaru Mode: Absolute.

Overall Skill Level: Kokichi Muta was a semi-grade 1 jujutsu sorcerer while he was still a second-year student at Jujutsu High. He could control several puppets at once remotely from a great distance, with each puppet possessing high combat abilities worthy enough to earn him his rank.

In order to defeat Mahito, Kokichi was prepared to unleash his entire life's worth of reserves of cursed energy to win. Pseudo-Geto acknowledged that Mahito's skill and strategies were exceptional in this battle.[7] It was nearly enough to exorcise the special grade curse or as Mahito puts it, Kokichi puts too much stock into his strategy. He was ultimately defeated because Mahito was able to lure him into a false sense of security after believing he had achieved his objective.[8]

Intelligence

Great Tactical Intellect: Kokichi was a highly tactical thinker and fighter who tried to always stay a step ahead of his opponent. While in combat with Panda, Kokichi ascertained Panda's strengths and weaknesses as well as his own at every stage of the fight.[9] Pseudo-Geto also praised Kokichi for having decent tactical prowess while fighting Mahito. Kokichi was well prepared for their fight and his tactics nearly succeeded in wearing Mahito out and damaging his body while neutralizing his technique.[10]

Cursed Energy

Cursed Energy Output: To supplement his Puppet Manipulation technique's vast range, Kokichi can exceed the limits of his cursed energy output, allowing him to control his puppets from afar.[11] While piloting Mechamaru Mode: Absolute, Kokichi was prepared to use all seventeen years, five months, and six days of cursed energy he collected over his entire lifespan,[12] releasing cursed energy comparable to a special grade's even if only momentarily.[13]

Cursed Restriction

Cursed Restrictions
Kokichi Muta first appearance (Anime)

Heavenly Restriction: Kokichi was born without a right arm and both of his legs were useless. He had no feeling below his waist, his skin was so sensitive it couldn't be touched by natural light and the pores on his body always felt like they were being stabbed with needles. In exchange, he could use his cursed technique over a vast range and output more cursed energy beyond his limits.[14][15]

Mahito heals Kokichi (Anime) Binding Vow: Kokichi Muta had a binding vow with Mahito's group, promising to give them information as a mole in exchange for a healthy body. One of the conditions Kokichi had was for Mahito's group to not hurt anyone from Kyoto Jujutsu High.[16]

Cursed Technique

Innate Technique
Puppet Manipulation (Anime) Puppet Manipulation ( (かい) (らい) (そう) (じゅつ) Kairai Sōjutsu?): Kokichi's technique allowed him to remotely control cursed corpse puppets over a wide range, encompassing the entirety of Japan due to his Heavenly Restriction.[17] Puppets such as Mechamaru are capable of using discharging cursed energy as heat rays among a bevy of other abilities.
Cursed Corpses
Mechamaru Ultimate (Anime 2) Ultimate Mechamaru (究極 (アルティメット) メカ (まる) Arutimetto Mekamaru?): A mechanical cursed corpse that Kokichi originally used as his proxy to attend school and missions.
Sword Option (刀源解放 (ソードオプション) Sōdo Opushon?): Multiple blades protrude from Mechamaru's forearm, along with his nails extending.[18] Mechamaru is also capable of increasing the size of his forearm and having spikes protrude out of it.[19] Sword Option (Anime)
Ultra Spin (絶技抉剔 (ウルトラスピン) Urutora Supin?): Mechamaru spins his hand and forearm, and swings his right arm at the target. This technique is capable of easily piercing through a tree trunk.[20] Ultra Spin (Anime)
Ultra Shield (剣山盾 (ウルトラシールド) Urutora Shīrudo?): Mechamaru puts up his guard, with his forearm in front of him, to block incoming attacks.[19] Ultra Shield (Anime)
Boost On (推力加算 (ブーストオン) Būsuto On?): Mechamaru releases cursed energy from his elbows to increase the speed of his attack.[18][21] Boost On (Anime)
Ultra Cannon (大祓砲 (ウルトラキャノン) Urutora Kyanon?): Mechamaru fires a blast of cursed energy from the palm of his hand.[22] Ultra Cannon (Anime)
Mode: Albatross (砲呪強化形態 (モード・アルバトロス) Mōdo Arubatorosu?): Mechamaru protrudes a cannon from his mouth.[23] Mode Albatross (Anime)
Ultimate Cannon (三重大祓砲 (アルティメットキャノン) Arutimetto Kyanon?): With the additional cannon in his mouth from Mode: Albatross, Mechamaru combines its firepower with his palms' and fires a large blast of cursed energy.[24] Ultimate Cannon (Anime)
Ultimate Mechamaru - Mode Absolute (Anime) Ultimate Mechamaru - Mode: Absolute (究極 (アルティメット) メカ (まる) 絶対形態 (モード・アブソリュート) Arutimetto Mekamaru Mōdo Abusoryūto?): A large mechanical puppet that Kokichi is capable of piloting from the cockpit in the puppet's head. It is capable of large scale attacks by using up cursed energy that was saved beforehand.
Ultra Cannon (大祓砲 (ウルトラキャノン) Urutora Kyanon?): Kokichi fires a blast of cursed energy from the palm of the puppet's hand. This technique consumes one year's worth of cursed energy that Kokichi has saved up.[25] Mode Absolute uses Ultra Cannon (Anime)
Miracle Cannon (二重大祓砲 (ミラクルキャノン) Mirakuru Kyanon?): Kokichi fires a blast of cursed energy from both of his puppet's hands. This technique consumes two years' worth of cursed energy that Kokichi has saved up.[26] Miracle Cannon (Anime)
Pigeon Viola (追尾弾 (ピジョン) 五重奏 (ヴィオラ) Pijon ~Viora~?): Kokichi creates 5 orbs made of cursed energy and blasts from them when released. The blasts follow the target until they come in contact with something. This technique consumes five years' worth of cursed energy that Kokichi has saved up.[27] Mahito dodging Pigeon Viola (Anime)
Mechamaru's communicator (Anime) Mini-Mechamaru (ミニメカ (まる) Mini Mekamaru?): During the Shibuya Incident, Kokichi had three small communication puppets prepared to guide his sorcerer comrades.[28] These devices were running on the remains of Kokichi's cursed energy after his death. Once the energy ran out, they deactivated.
Anti-Domain Techniques
Technique Charge (Anime)

New Shadow Style: Simple Domain (シン・ (かげ) (りゅう) (かん) () (りょう) (いき) Shin Kageryū: Kan'i Ryōiki?): Kokichi invented four tubes that contain the Simple Domain cursed technique. It was the only way he could perform the technique. The tubes are entered into a panel inside Mode: Absolute's cockpit, which announces Technique Charge ( (じゅつ) (しき) (そう) (てん) Jutsushiki Sōten?) once the technique is loaded. From there, Kokichi can shift Mechamaru's fingers into spikes or shooting barrels that can inject Simple Domain's effect into his desired target. It can also be used to protect the cockpit from an enemy's domain.[29]
