Jujutsu Sorcerers vs. Sukuna, also known as the Ryomen Sukuna Raid, is the paramount battle fought by jujutsu sorcerersYuji Itadori, Hiromi Higuruma, Atsuya Kusakabe, the Death Painting Womb Choso, Takuma Ino, Yuta Okkotsu, Maki Zenin, Aoi Todo, Toge Inumaki, Hana Kurusu, Nobara Kugisaki, and Suguru Geto's former commanders Miguel Oduol and Larue — against the special grade incarnated sorcerer, the King of Curses, Sukuna. It takes place on December 24, 2018, during the Culling Game in the ruins of Shinjuku.

Prologue

On November 18th, Hana recovered from the debilitating injuries she suffered from Sukuna during their fight. After confirming the Angel couldn't swap hosts like Sukuna,[1] Yuta asked for Hana's assistance in the upcoming battle by exploiting the psychological effect of Copy to deal the final blow on Sukuna, with his domain barrier's rupture being her signal to attack. Hana and the Angel agreed to partake in the plan.[2]

Hana with Yuta and Shoko

Hana recovers from her injuries and agrees to unseal Gojo.

Some time later that day, all the jujutsu sorcerers participating in the raid against Sukuna congregated in a building to prepare for Satoru Gojo's unsealing, during which Choso gave Yuji Yuki Tsukumo's notes on soul research.[3] Yuji proposed a plan to save Megumi by having Higuruma stab Sukuna with the Executioner's Sword, the former lawyer assuring the sorcerers that the sure-kill sword could distinguish between multiple souls and would only kill Sukuna if it struck.[4]

The next day, Hana freed Gojo from the Prison Realm, who struck a deal with Sukuna and Kenjaku to fight them on December 24.[5] Afterwards, Gojo met with Kiyotaka Ijichi and Shoko Ieiri, who informed him of Kento Nanami's death during the Shibuya Incident.[6] During their discussion, Nanami's protégé Ino asked for their permission to use his late mentor's cursed tool, and was unanimously granted it since the three believed Nanami trusted him the most.[7]

Satoru Gojo returns

Gojo is freed from the Prison Realm.

Given a month's worth of time, the sorcerers readied themselves for the ultimate battle and formulated strategies. Despite the return of the strongest sorcerer, the jujutsu sorcerers were worried about the possibility that Gojo would lose against Sukuna. In case he died, they needed a plan to take down the King of Curses with their remaining manpower, as well as decide on who to send to occupy or incapacitate Kenjaku and Uraume in the meantime. The sorcerers eventually decided to have Fumihiko Takaba distract Kenjaku while Yuta will deal the finishing blow,[8][9] and Kinji Hakari draw away Uraume.[10]

During this time, Mei Mei searched for and found the head of New Shadow Style, killing them so the role could be passed onto Kusakabe, who undid the binding vows placed on Simple Domain, allowing the sorcerers to learn the technique freely.[11][12] Some time later, on Choso's advice, Yuji consumed the rest of the Death Painting Wombs in order to engrave himself with Blood Manipulation and gain a body that can directly convert cursed energy into blood, which would allow him to perform reverse cursed technique easier.[13]

Many of the sorcerers set to battle at the frontlines underwent replacement training ( () () (しゅ) (ぎょう) Irekae Shugyō?) using Ui Ui's cursed technique to swap each others' souls and learn new abilities. Since replacement training could only be done with two people per month, Yuji learned the basics of Blood Manipulation by training with Choso and Noritoshi Kamo before undergoing replacement training with Kusakabe.[14] Yuji initially planned to do replacement training with Gojo after Kusakabe but was persuaded by his sensei to choose someone else,[15] causing him to decide to learn reverse cursed technique with Yuta instead.[14] Kusakabe eventually did replacement training with Yuji,[16] Choso, and Ino to improve their cursed energy manipulation and teach them Simple Domain.[17][18]

Todo, who kept his presence secret from Yuji to prevent Sukuna from gaining intel through resonance, planned to assist Yuta in defeating Kenjaku and help the other sorcerers escape from Malevolent Shrine using Mei Mei's crows. He divulged these plans to Mei Mei and had her promise to only tell Yuta right before he carries out the ambush on Kenjaku.[19]

Contributing to the sorcerers' contingencies, Yuta sought his mentor Miguel Oduol's aid for the upcoming battle. After some convincing from his former ally Larue, the African sorcerer agreed to participate in the raid against Sukuna with Larue, but only after Gojo and Yuta lose and Sukuna couldn't use his domain anymore.[20] Miguel and Larue kept their decision a secret from Yuta, telling him that they wouldn't come instead, though Yuta informed his Japanese allies that they might.[21]

Discussing the plan to save Megumi

The sorcerers plan out how to save Megumi.

In addition to recruiting his mentor, Yuta formulated a strategy that involved defeating Sukuna in his domain with Yuji and Choso's help. After gaining a better understanding of souls through Yuki's research notes, Yuji believed his ability to perceive the soul would let him knock Megumi awake by striking the boundary between Megumi and Sukuna's souls, which would allow him to gradually lower Sukuna's strength and weaken the two souls' connection. To improve Megumi's chance of survival when Sukuna is removed, Hana offered to let Yuta copy her cursed technique, which is ideal for his plan.[22] In case they failed to defeat Sukuna inside the domain, Yuta planned to have Maki ambush Sukuna by planting her Split Soul Katana in his domain beforehand and collapsing part of his domain's barrier as her signal to attack.[23]

To better his prowess with barrier techniques so he could selectively target Sukuna with his domain's sure-hit,[24] Yuta underwent replacement training with Gojo.[25] During their training, Yuta asked for Sukuna's last finger so he could have Rika eat it and copy Shrine. Gojo refused, gambling on the possibility that the finger could be put to greater use before advising Yuta to copy Shrine from Yuji instead. Having been briefed by Mei Mei about Todo's plan and warning about resonance, Yuta and her later met with Yuji to reveal his plan to copy Shrine. The first-year agreed to help his senpai and offered his left ring finger to be consumed.[26] To hide his missing fingers from Sukuna, Yuta gave Yuji a pair of claw gauntlet cursed tools.[27]

Planning the raid on Sukuna

The jujutsu sorcerers plan out their attack.

When discussing their strategy against Sukuna, the jujutsu sorcerers obliged Hajime Kashimo by allowing him to fight the King of Curses before them. They then planned to have Higuruma and Yuji battle Sukuna after him, having devised a plan that would ensure Higuruma's Deadly Sentencing tried Sukuna for his crime of mass murder in Shibuya by redoing the trial against Yuji and including Sukuna as a co-defendant. If the plan succeeded, they could confiscate his cursed technique and Higuruma would be given the Executioner's Sword through Death Penalty.[28] With Higuruma armed with the sure-kill sword and Sukuna being vulnerable, Kusakabe, Choso and Ino would then join the battle.[29] Later that night, Yuji asked Higuruma if he wished to die since he planned to fight Sukuna without learning reverse cursed technique. Higuruma confirmed that he wished to fulfil his role and then die, a goal that Yuji resonated with.[30]

Yuta accepts becoming a monster

Yuta resolves to become a monster if it means defeating Sukuna.

As the final contingency, Yuta suggested having Rika consume Kenjaku's corpse after the ambush so he could copy his technique. Using the brain-transplanting technique, Yuta would then take over Gojo's corpse and continue the fight against Sukuna. Despite initial objections from his comrades, Yuta ultimately convinced them to agree to the plan, and informed Gojo himself while the latter was on his way to kill the higher-ups. To carry out Yuta's plan, Rin Amai was recruited into the medical team along with Shoko and Arata Nitta, who would be responsible for keeping Yuta alive after the brain transplant.[31]

Battle

Yuji hits Sukuna's soul

Yuji attacks the barrier between Sukuna and Megumi's soul .

Shortly after Kashimo's death at the hands of Sukuna, Higuruma and Yuji are teleported to the battlefield.[32] Using Mei Mei's Bird Strike as a distraction, the two sorcerers close in on Sukuna before commencing a retrial with Deadly Sentencing.[33] With Sukuna's admission of massacre in the Shibuya Incident, Judgeman quickly sentences him to death and confiscation. Believing Sukuna's technique is seized, Kusakabe, Choso, and Ino are then teleported nearby to assist in the battle. However, a critical oversight by Higuruma regarding the rules of his domain causes him to confiscate the Kamutoke cursed tool instead of Shrine.[34]

Higuruma and Kusakabe cut by Sukuna

Higuruma fails to confiscate Sukuna's technique.

Noticing that the sorcerers have improved their reinforcement techniques, Sukuna decides to overpower them with speed instead, blitzing and severely injuring Choso first by punching through him with two fists. Blocking a strike from Ino using Nanami's blunt blade, Sukuna senses the Ratio Technique's effect before kicking the sorcerer away. As Kusakabe and Yuji try to attack him, Sukuna drives them back with flying slashes. Higuruma tries to stab him with the Executioner's Sword, but the King of Curses easily dodges his attacks before throwing him far away, isolating the lawyer from the others. Realizing Sukuna's plan, Yuji runs after Higuruma, but is outpaced by Sukuna despite his own incredible running speed. Sukuna arrives at Higuruma first and unleashes an onslaught of slashes at him. In the nick of time, Higuruma uses domain amplification to neutralize the technique, protecting himself.[35]

Yuji and Higuruma vs. Sukuna

Higuruma and Yuji fighting to strike Sukuna with the Executioner's Sword.

Impressed by Higuruma's finesse with domain amplification, Sukuna decides to further test the lawyer's potential by collapsing the dilapidated building they are in. As Yuji regroups with Higuruma, Sukuna seizes the opportunity to distract the sorcerers and cuts down Yuji with Cleave. The battle continues on a highway bridge, where Sukuna toys with Higuruma, effortlessly dodging his attacks while delivering counterstrikes. To push Higuruma further, Sukuna unleashes a world-cutting Dismantle, severing his right hand and destroying parts of the bridge, expecting him to heal with reverse cursed technique.

After inflicting more wounds and threatening to kill him, Sukuna is unexpectedly struck by Piercing Blood. The attack distracts Sukuna long enough for Higuruma to heal himself and launch a surprise attack with the Executioner's Sword. Although the blade pierces Sukuna's hand, the King of Curses has preemptively severed it, nullifying the attack. As Sukuna cuts Higuruma down, the lawyer hurls the sword's cross behind him. Yuji suddenly reappears, grabs the cross, and reignites the blade, aiming to stab Sukuna from behind.[36]

Sukuna avoids the Executioner's Sword

Sukuna avoids Higuruma's last-ditch attack with the Executioner's Sword.

At the last moment, Sukuna dodges Yuji's attack. As Higuruma's life fades, so does the light from the Executioner's Sword. After slashing Yuji away, Sukuna notices Ui Ui and Kirara Hoshi teleporting away with Higuruma's body, confirming his suspicion that the sorcerers are retrieving the corpses of the fallen. When Sukuna sees Yuji using reverse cursed technique, he briefly loses himself in thought, pondering why Yuji's indomitable spirit irritates him. He realizes that he despises the notion of someone far weaker than himself standing as his equal through sheer strength of will.

Yuta and Rika vs. Sukuna

Yuta and Rika join the fray!

Fueled by this disdain, Sukuna vows to crush the jujutsu sorcerers' hopes just as Tengen's brightly glowing remains appear before him. As Kusakabe and Ino arrive, Yuji's Kogane announces Rule 15 of the Culling Game: the authority to activate the Great Merger is transferred to Megumi Fushiguro. Kusakabe deduces that Yuta's ambush on Kenjaku must have succeeded, triggering this failsafe. Sukuna declares his intent to kill all the jujutsu sorcerers, followed by every player in the Culling Game, before activating the Great Merger and annihilating the resulting amalgamation. At that moment, Yuta arrives on the scene and launches an attack on Sukuna alongside Rika.[37]

Authentic Mutual Love

Domain Expansion: Authentic Mutual Love.

After killing Kenjaku but failing to stop him from triggering his failsafe, Yuta feels deeply responsible for the jujutsu sorcerers' dire situation. Determined to finish off the King of Curses, Yuta and Rika swiftly engage Sukuna in combat. Following an exchange of powerful blows, Yuta activates his Domain Expansion: Authentic Mutual Love. In response, Sukuna counters with Hollow Wicker Basket, nullifying the domain's sure-hit effect.

Within his domain, Yuta picks up a katana and charges at Sukuna, striking him with Thin Ice Breaker and launching him away. As Yuji enters the domain, Sukuna quickly deduces the sorcerers' strategy: to have Yuji forcibly tear Megumi from his body with his soul-rending punches while half of Sukuna's arms and mouths are preoccupied with maintaining Hollow Wicker Basket. Smiling smugly, Sukuna welcomes the challenge.[38]

Yuta activates Cleave on Sukuna

Yuta cuts Sukuna with his own cursed technique.

Authentic Mutual Love allows Yuta to imbue one of his copied cursed techniques as the domain's sure-hit attack while granting him access to the rest, which are randomly stored within the infinite katanas inside his domain. Using his copied techniques, Yuta fights Sukuna in tandem with Yuji and Rika, planning to chip away at the weakened and handicapped King of Curses until he can no longer maintain Hollow Wicker Basket, before purging his cursed object from Megumi with Jacob's Ladder.

During the battle, Sukuna grows intrigued by the Jujutsu High sorcerers' rapid progress over the past month and casually asks Yuta and Yuji about it, but receives no clear answers from either. Seizing the brief opening Sukuna shows whenever he encounters a new cursed technique, Yuta grabs a katana and lunges it toward Sukuna's face. Though Sukuna catches the blade, Yuta has anticipated this reaction, activating the cursed technique embedded within the sword: Shrine. In an instant, Sukuna is slashed across the face by his own Cleave technique.[39]

Reminding a staggered Sukuna that he never recovered his final finger, Yuta misleads Sukuna into believing he had eaten it. With Sukuna stunned, Yuji, Yuta, and Rika continue their assault. Sukuna retaliates, slashing Yuji's torso with Cleave, but Yuji counters by spitting blood into his face, blinding half of his eyes. Attempting to disengage, Sukuna releases his hand signs for Hollow Wicker Basket to unleash his world-cutting Dismantle. However, anticipating this, Yuji and Rika restrain three of his arms, while Yuta rips out the tongue from his second mouth and damages his other mouth, preventing him from performing the necessary hand signs and cursed chant.

Maki pierces Sukuna's heart

Maki Zenin attacks Sukuna when he least expects it.

As Sukuna tries to repel Yuta with Dismantle, Yuji bursts the blood on Sukuna's face, disorienting him just long enough for Yuta to sever his one free hand. With Sukuna fully restrained, Yuta activates his domain's sure-hit effect and unleashes Jacob's Ladder at maximum output. The divine light scorches and stuns Sukuna, giving Yuta the opening to disable one of his arms while Yuji lands another soul-rending punch to wake up Megumi. Unexpectedly, Megumi's lost will to live prevents his soul from separating from Sukuna's, granting the latter just enough time to complete the hand signs and chant for his world-cutting Dismantle. Seizing the moment, he unleashes the devastating attack, cutting Yuta in half while slicing away Yuji and Rika. As Authentic Mutual Love's barrier shatters, Sukuna seemingly stands victorious, until Maki Zenin suddenly appears behind him, piercing his heart with the Split Soul Katana.[40]

Maki dodges Dismantle

Maki reads and dodges an enhanced Dismantle.

Having prepared according to Yuta's contingency plan, the sorcerers outside the domain begin their attack on Sukuna. As Maki forces Sukuna away from Yuji, Ui Ui appears and teleports Yuta and Rika to safety. Taking note of his injuries, Sukuna discovers that the wound inflicted by Maki is healing way slower than the rest. The Split Soul Katana directly damages a person's soul when wielded by someone who can perceive souls, preventing the wound from healing with reverse cursed technique unless the injured target can fully comprehend and repair their soul's shape. While Sukuna is aware of his soul's contours, he struggles to fully adapt his reverse cursed technique to repair it as a result of his battle against Gojo.

As Yuji rushes to assist Maki, he suddenly collapses and vomits blood, realizing too late that he had forgotten to heal a part of his body. Just then, Choso appears, guiding and calming him down. Meanwhile, Maki continues her battle against Sukuna, overpowering him in raw strength and evading his attacks by reading his techniques. Observing that Sukuna is using cursed energy both to heal himself and to keep his heart beating, Maki tauntingly asks if he truly believes he can fight her in such a condition. With confidence, Sukuna assures her it's no problem.[41]

Meanwhile, Yuta is transported to the medical team's operating room. Although Arata Nitta's cursed technique has halted his injuries from worsening, their severity exceeds the limits of his own reverse cursed technique. On the brink of death, Yuta resolves to proceed with his plan: transferring his brain into Satoru Gojo's body. As Shoko Ieiri finishes suturing Gojo's body, she reminds Yuta of the crucial steps he must take after the transfer. With no time to hesitate, the operation begins.[42]

Sukuna hits Maki with Black Flash

The sparks of black bless Sukuna.

Maki and Sukuna clash through the streets of Shinjuku, toppling a building onto themselves in the process. Amidst the chaos, Sukuna detonates a car with a slash, blasting Maki into a nearby high-rise. Before she can recover, he intercepts her inside the building and wounds her with Cleave. Suddenly, Takuma Ino appears behind him and tries to fire Kaichi at him, but Sukuna unleashes a barrage of Dismantles, slashing Ino before kicking him out of a window. However, noticing that Ino wasn't wielding his cursed tool, Sukuna blocks an attack from above as Atsuya Kusakabe strikes with the blunt blade.

Before Sukuna can seriously hurt Kusakabe, Maki returns to the scene and resumes her battle against the King of Curses. Elated at the raw strength granted by her Heavenly Restriction that abandoned cursed energy, Sukuna blitzes Maki and hurls her out of the high-rise. As they crash on the ground, Sukuna declares that Maki's very existence denies jujutsu itself and that he intends to prove jujutsu's superiority over physical prowess through their fight. Grabbing Maki's sword, Sukuna reels back his fist and punches her with Black Flash, launching her far into the distance. Moments later, Kusakabe arrives, only to find himself alone with Sukuna, the crushing realization that he must face the King of Curses alone dawning on him.[43]

Kusakabe opens a Simple Domain, crouching into a sword-drawing stance. Sukuna is confused, as Simple Domain does not provide any defense against cursed techniques. Testing the sorcerer, he fires a single Dismantle at him. Unbeknownst to Sukuna, Kusakabe is using Evening Moon Sword Drawing. This technique enhances his cursed energy output while simultaneously weakening Sukuna's techniques within the Simple Domain and automatically intercepts anything that enters its range with his katana. With a swift deflection, Kusakabe realizes that relying on Evening Moon's automatic defense is easier than reading Sukuna's movements and cursed energy fluctuations. Without warning, a Dismantle flies straight for Kusakabe's face. At the last possible moment, he parries the attack. Amused that Kusakabe evaded his cursed technique without any visible motion on his part, Sukuna prepares to end the fight with his world-cutting slash.

Kusakabe relentlessly slashes Sukuna

Kusakabe rains down a flurry of slashes on Sukuna.

Taking the initiative, Kusakabe expands his Simple Domain, pulling Sukuna into its range. Utilizing its automatic interception, he unleashes a storm of sword slashes, striking Sukuna repeatedly before the King of Curses can react. As his sword finally shatters, Kusakabe transitions into hand-to-hand combat, sending Sukuna flying with a powerful kick. Inspired by the younger sorcerers who challenged Sukuna before him, Kusakabe resolves to risk his life as well. Repairing his blade with cursed energy, he lunges toward Sukuna's injured heart. However, Sukuna catches the blade with ease and retaliates, slashing Kusakabe across the chest. Just as Kusakabe collapses, Ui Ui appears to transport him to safety, but Sukuna instantly appears behind him, intent on eliminating the nuisance. Suddenly, Miguel Oduol intervenes, rescuing Ui Ui at the last moment. Smirking, he mocks Sukuna for not recognizing him.[44]

Miguel fighting Sukuna

Miguel fighting Sukuna on equal footing.

At the same time, Larue rescues Kusakabe and joins Miguel on the rooftop. Assessing Sukuna's condition and believing he is in a highly vulnerable state, the two sorcerers launch a coordinated assault. Their battle eventually takes them into a large, abandoned building. Inside, Larue uses his Heart Catch cursed technique to form a massive hand, crushing Sukuna against a wall in an attempt to restrain him. Sukuna quickly destroys the hand with a slash, freeing himself before unleashing a flurry of attacks on both opponents. With his physical abilities enhanced by Prayer Song, Miguel dodges the projectiles with ease and engages Sukuna in close combat, successfully landing several hits.

Suddenly, Sukuna notices Choso on a balcony behind him and ducks behind a nearby wall just in time to avoid a Piercing Blood attack. He retaliates with Dismantle, injuring Choso's arms. At that moment, Yuji crashes through the ceiling and hammers Sukuna with a downward strike, cracking the floor beneath them. Maki arrives immediately afterward and severs Sukuna's upper left hand, preventing him from forming the necessary hand signs to unleash his world-cutting slash. Just as the momentum seems to shift in the jujutsu sorcerers' favor, Sukuna lands a Black Flash on Larue, critically injuring him and threatening to restore his reverse cursed technique output.[45]

Yuji strikes Sukuna with Black Flash

Yuji hits Sukuna with Black Flash!

Realizing the implications of Sukuna landing two Black Flashes, the jujutsu sorcerers hasten to defeat him before he can recover. Sukuna maneuvers around Yuji's and Choso's attacks before engaging Maki in a one-on-one aerial battle. The two leap off scattered surfaces in the air, using them as footholds. Sukuna lands a punch on Maki, triggering his third Black Flash and sending her hurtling through a window. He follows up with strong Dismantles, cutting deep into her despite her heightened durability. Suddenly, blood orbs materialize behind Sukuna and explode simultaneously, a result of Choso's Supernova. However, Sukuna evades the attack and retaliates with two slashes. The counterattack serves as a diversion for Sukuna to sneak behind Choso and hurl him into a wall. He then follows up with a brutal punch, triggering a fourth Black Flash. To his surprise, Choso mitigates the damage using blood armor, buying just enough time for Yuji to rush in and punch Sukuna away. Despite his injuries, Choso hands Yuji a compressed blood orb. Meanwhile, Miguel evacuates Larue, though the latter insists he can still contribute to the fight.

As Yuji and Sukuna clash, Yuji is slammed to the ground. Taking advantage of the opening, he holds out his hands and fires Piercing Blood point-blank at Sukuna's face. Sukuna narrowly dodges, the beam grazing his chin. He retaliates with Dismantle, cutting Yuji's face and forcing him back. Undeterred, Yuji winds up for a punch, one that Sukuna senses could trigger a Black Flash. Just as Sukuna braces to defend, his eyes are abruptly drawn towards Larue, who activates his Cutie Honey technique to forcibly shift Sukuna's gaze. In that instant, Yuji connects, landing a devastating Black Flash that sends Sukuna crashing against a wall as black lightning erupts around them. Amid the shower of black sparks, Yuji awakens his potential.[46]

Auspicious Beast Ryu

Ino summons Ryu to attack Sukuna.

Yuji and Sukuna briefly face off before reigniting their battle. Yuji breaks through Sukuna's guard and lands a second Black Flash to the chest, but Sukuna immediately counters with his fifth, striking Yuji's arm. Thrown back by the impact, Yuji grabs a nearby support pillar, causing dotted lines and scissor markings to appear on it, as the earlier Black Flash awakened the dormant Shrine technique engraved in him by Sukuna, allowing him to manifest it. He cuts out a chunk of the pillar and hurls it as a distraction, grabbing Sukuna's foot in an attempt to sever it. Sukuna fires Dismantle slashes to shake him off, but Yuji endures the pain and delivers a liver punch, triggering a third Black Flash. Injured, Sukuna notes that Yuji's Shrine has lower output than his own.

Yuji's seventh consecutive Black Flash

Yuji achieves the record of seven consecutive Black Flashes.

Ino joins the fray, summoning Auspicious Beast Number Four: Ryu. The serpentine dragon rams Sukuna through several railings. Sukuna slices it apart and stops Ino's follow-up, an attack with Nanami's cleaver, by blocking with his foot. The real threat, however, is Yuji, who sneaks in and lands a fourth Black Flash, nearing Sukuna's record. Launched through a window, Sukuna lands on the ground and collapses the floor beneath Yuji with Spiderweb. Undeterred, Yuji tanks a slash-imbued punch from Sukuna, then hurls him into a wall with another strike. He closes the gap and delivers a fifth Black Flash. Although Sukuna retaliates by shredding the right side of Yuji's face, Yuji remains relentless, smashing Sukuna in the face with a sixth, surpassing the King of Curses' record. Enraged, Sukuna is briefly distracted when Ino hurls Nanami's cleaver at him. Though he dodges it, the momentary lapse allows Yuji to position himself and drive his fist into Sukuna's back, landing a seventh Black Flash.[47]

Incomplete Malevolent Shrine

Sukuna regains his Domain Expansion.

The force of Yuji's punch sends Sukuna crashing into the wall of a higher floor. As a result of the consecutive Black Flashes, Sukuna loses the chance to recover his reverse cursed technique output, rendering him unable to regenerate his hands. In desperation, he activates his Domain Expansion by altering the hand sign and using a part of his brain unaffected by Unlimited Void to execute his cursed and barrier techniques. Leveraging his awakened state from the Black Flashes and incorporating uncertain conditions into improvised binding vows, Sukuna resurrects Malevolent Shrine with no loss in output or range, unleashing countless slashes across a 200-meter radius. However, due to his weakened condition, he can only sustain the open-barrier domain for 99 seconds.

Sukuna opens his Divine Flame

Divine Flame! Open!

Having trained for this scenario with Kusakabe, Yuji, Choso, and Ino deploy Simple Domains to protect themselves. Simultaneously, Kasumi Miwa is teleported onto the battlefield and opens her own Simple Domain to shield Maki. Yuji's barrier holds until the final second before collapsing, exposing him to a flurry of slashes, one severing his left foot. Undeterred, he reattaches it using Blood Manipulation and charges at Sukuna. Just then, Sukuna unveils his trump card, conjuring flames from his hands and chanting: "Divine Flame! Open!"[48]

Sukuna's Divine Flame in his domain

Ryomen Sukuna's ultimate move erupts in Shinjuku!

Sukuna's secret technique, Divine Flame, can only be activated after he hits a target with both Dismantle and Cleave. Though powerful, the fire arrow is slow and short-ranged. To enhance its effectiveness, Sukuna has formed a binding vow: he cannot use Divine Flame against multiple opponents unless within his domain. This allows him to expand Malevolent Shrine's cursed technique by imbuing all pulverized matter in the domain with Divine Flame's explosive energy. The resulting dust acts like thermobaric particles, sealed inside the domain by modifying the barrier's conditions to block non-living matter from escaping. When Sukuna fires the flame arrow, the intense heat triggers a chain reaction, igniting the particles and causing a massive explosion, annihilating all life within range. This is Sukuna's ultimate technique, previously used to destroy Mahoraga during the Shibuya Incident.[49] He was unable to use it against Satoru Gojo due to constantly changing the domain's barrier and restricting its range, which would have weakened the explosion.

At the last moment, Choso conjures a blood dome to shield himself and Yuji from the blast, sacrificing himself to protect his younger brother. Meanwhile, Aoi Todo teleports the other sorcerers out using Boogie Woogie. After Yuji thanks him for being his older brother, Choso's body disintegrates and the dome collapses, revealing the scorched battlefield. Through the smoke, Sukuna and Todo emerge. Todo assures Yuji the others are safe. Trusting him, Yuji charges back into battle alongside Todo, exploiting Sukuna's temporary inability to use cursed techniques after expanding his domain.[50]

Todo using the vibraslap with his technique

Boogie Woogie: Revised continually switching the fighters' positions.

Unwrapping his left arm, Todo reveals the vibraslap he installed in place of his missing hand. By striking the instrument, Boogie Woogie now activates when its metal piece hits the box, enabling him to swap positions up to 50 times per second. Through a binding vow, he can further expand its range and number of targets by reducing the swap frequency. With this revised technique, Todo and Yuji synchronize their attacks, overwhelming Sukuna and making it nearly impossible for him to predict their movements. During the battle, Todo swaps Sukuna with a stone at the bottom of a crater, then leaps from the edge and switches himself with Sukuna midair, leaving him exposed. Though Sukuna avoids Todo's kick, Yuji hurls a cursed energy-charged rock at him, only for Todo to swap its position with Yuji's, enabling a diving kick that sends Sukuna crashing into a ruined building. As the fight continues, Sukuna grabs Yuji by the face to throw him, but Todo swaps them again, giving Yuji another opening to strike.

Yuta inside Gojo's body

Yuta rejoins the battle in Gojo's body.

Despite being disoriented by Boogie Woogie, Sukuna notices that Yuji's focus sharpens just before a swap, revealing a potential opening to exploit. Anticipating a feint like the one used against Mahito, Sukuna prepares to ignore Todo and counter Yuji during their next exchange. Just as the two are about to exchange blows, Sukuna suddenly notices one of Mei Mei's crows behind him, which he wrongly assumes Yuji will swap with and thus strikes, only to realize that no swap occurred. This misstep allows Yuji to land a devastating Black Flash to Sukuna's chest. As Yuji digs his fingers in deeper, Sukuna readies a domain expansion, when Satoru Gojo's silhouette suddenly emerges through the smoke.[51]

The strongest domains clash again

Yuta and Sukuna clash domains.

Sukuna is initially bewildered by Gojo's revival until he sees the stitch marks across his forehead. Realizing that Yuta copied Kenjaku's cursed technique and transplanted his brain into Gojo's body, Sukuna becomes ecstatic. After punching Yuji aside, the King of Curses praises Yuta for his resolve, commending him for going so far and sacrificing so much just to defeat him. At that moment, Yuta and Sukuna simultaneously expand their domains.[52]

Recalling Gojo's battle with Sukuna, Yuta activates Unlimited Void with a small barrier to counter Sukuna's open-barrier domain. Having refined his barrier techniques through replacement training with Gojo, Yuta is confident that his domain can withstand Malevolent Shrine's slashes for three minutes. In response, Sukuna narrows Malevolent Shrine's range to surround only the barrier of Unlimited Void, thereby removing its time limit. Beginning the fight, Yuta attempts to activate Blue, but Sukuna closes the distance and interrupts him, forcing a hand-to-hand fight. Yuta is shocked that Sukuna can make physical contact despite Infinity, soon realizing that Sukuna is using domain amplification while maintaining his domain.

Counterattacking, Yuta dodges a punch, grabs Sukuna's arm, and slams him to the ground, following up with a kick that sends him tumbling. Since Rika did not accompany him, Yuta is limited to using only Limitless. Still, he believes he holds the advantage, as Sukuna also cannot use his own cursed technique while relying on domain amplification to bypass Infinity. Yuta attempts a punch but misses, misjudging the distance due to Gojo's longer limbs. As Sukuna drives him back, he tries again to activate Blue but fails, prompting Sukuna to mock him for wasting time before punching him away. Having learned from Kenjaku about the conditions of Copy, Sukuna correctly guesses that Yuta is attempting to unleash Hollow Purple before his time in Gojo's body runs out.

Yuta using Blue

Yuta's strategy successfully paralyzes the King of Curses.

As Yuta chants the incantation and forms the necessary hand sign, Sukuna disengages his hands and launches a barrage of punches, giving Yuta no opening to complete the technique. However, exploiting Sukuna's focus on Limitless, Yuta activates Blue, pulling a voice recorder into the domain. The device plays a recording of Toge Inumaki's voice, commanding "Don't move." through Cursed Speech. Caught off-guard, Sukuna is briefly stunned, just long enough for Yuta to finish the chant and fire Hollow Purple directly at him.[53]

The force of Hollow Purple ruptures Unlimited Void's barrier, ejecting both Sukuna and Yuta. Though the attack disrupted Sukuna's concentration and cancelled Malevolent Shrine, Yuta's inexperience with the technique limited its damage, only partially injuring Sukuna's face while destroying his own domain. Yuji and Todo quickly arrive to support Yuta, but Yuta suddenly collapses as his copy of Kenjaku's cursed technique burns out after domain expansion, causing him to lose control of Gojo's body. Taking advantage of Todo's brief distraction, Sukuna lands a Black Flash, hurling Todo away and breaking his vibraslap. As Yuji charges Sukuna, he suddenly appears behind him, landing a surprise punch. Sukuna realizes Todo is swapping Yuji's position using fragments of Yuta's domain barrier, activating Boogie Woogie by striking the vibraslap’s box against his head.

Yuji uses Dismantle

Yuji's Dismantle cuts between Sukuna and Megumi's soul.

The rapid swaps give Yuji an opening to touch Sukuna and activate Dismantle, dealing massive damage. Sukuna is stunned to find that Yuji's Dismantle targets the boundary between his and Megumi's souls, with a binding vow enhancing its effectiveness far beyond Yuji's physical strikes. Reeling, Sukuna vomits up several of his severed fingers due to the internal damage. Desperate to recover, he crushes and swallows them again. Leaping onto a beam, he is quickly forced down as Yuji cuts it apart using Shrine. Sukuna dodges Yuji's next punch and counters by slamming him into a wall. As the brawl continues, Todo performs one last Boogie Woogie swap, striking his vibraslap. However, no movement seems to occur. Just as Sukuna realizes something is wrong, he looks up and sees Hana Kurusu directly above him, having been swapped with a piece of Yuta's domain. Following Yuta's plan, Hana activates Jacob's Ladder at maximum output, unleashing a pillar of purifying light upon the vulnerable King of Curses.[54]

Thinking fast, Sukuna punches the ground beneath him and launches debris upward at Hana. Using the rubble as stepping stones, he quickly ascends toward her, confident that neither Todo nor Yuji would follow, as Jacob's Ladder would affect them too. Before Hana can retreat, Sukuna has already leapt above her, poised to land a killing blow on both her and Angel. At the last second, Todo intervenes, placing himself between Sukuna and Hana and taking the full force of the King of Curses' Black Flash. Sukuna silently acknowledges Todo's abilities before the impact sends both sorcerers crashing through buildings and to the ground, putting them out of commission.

Yuji's domain environment

Yuji's traps Sukuna in his Domain Expansion.

Sukuna turns to search for Yuji, only to find him directly behind. Yuji had pursued him through Jacob's Ladder, shocking Sukuna long enough for Yuji to land a punch to his face, then grab his legs and slam him through a building as they fall. Once on the ground, Sukuna quickly recovers and narrowly avoids Yuji's Dismantle before countering with his own. Yuji dodges the flying slashes but is caught off-guard by a punch from Sukuna's left fist, staggering him. Having completed two Black Flashes, Sukuna fully restores his reverse cursed technique output and regenerates his missing hands. With the tides turning, Sukuna begins to dominate Yuji in close combat, all while dodging the boy's soul-rending Dismantles. As a final gambit, Yuji activates his Domain Expansion! Suddenly, Sukuna finds himself seated in an empty train station, looking like he did when he possessed Yuji. On the same platform, Yuji, appearing as he did before Sukuna's incarnation, walks by with a cheerful expression and asks Sukuna to follow him.[55]

Yuji and Sukuna talk

Sukuna demands to know Yuji's intentions.

As they leave the station, Sukuna remarks on the strangeness of Yuji's domain and questions him about it. Yuji admits he doesn't fully understand it either but asks Sukuna to humor him with a conversation. After exiting the station, Yuji points out a local statue only he recognizes and begins talking about his childhood, as his domain has taken the form of his hometown. At a nearby park, Yuji reminisces about playing there as a child and comments on the flowers growing around them, mistakenly identifying them before Sukuna corrects him. They catch crayfish, with Sukuna snagging a larger one, but Yuji catches a rare species. The pair briefly visit a department store before heading outside the town. They arrive at a farm Yuji's grandfather once took him to, where they looked at horses and had an archery contest. As Yuji recalls the snowy winters of his youth, Sukuna cuts him off, demanding he state his true intentions.

Sukuna realizes Yuji is pitying him

Sukuna realizes Yuji is showing him mercy.

Reflecting on those he's lost, Yuji shares his new understanding of life. Once believing that life was about fulfilling a role, he now thinks a person's worth lies in the small, lasting memories they leave with others. This view directly opposes Sukuna's belief, that humans are tools with fixed roles and no inherent value. Through this walk down memory lane, Yuji hoped to show Sukuna the life of someone the King of Curses would deem worthless. Sukuna, unmoved, assumes Yuji's words are a plea for mercy. But he suddenly realizes the opposite: Yuji is pitying him. Yuji confirms this and demands Sukuna release Megumi and return to his own body unless he wants to die. Furious at being pitied and threatened, Sukuna explodes in rage, vowing to slaughter everyone Yuji holds dear before killing him.[56]

Megumi throws Sukuna off balance

Megumi's soul rebels against Sukuna.

Megumi's soul pleads with Yuji to stop trying to save him. With Tsumiki dead, his dream of building a world where she could live without suffering and preserving their peaceful life has been shattered. No longer wishing to live, Megumi surrenders to despair. Yuji, recalling how his grandfather once refused cancer treatment, understands and admits he can't force Megumi to go on. As the final clash begins, Sukuna activates Hollow Wicker Basket to counter Yuji's domain. Though he could restore his cursed technique using reverse cursed technique, the lingering effects of Unlimited Void on his brain make it too risky. Unlike fully manifested domains, Hollow Wicker Basket's weak output offers only temporary protection, but Sukuna can delay it from being overpowered by maintaining its hand signs.

Sukuna brutally beats Yuji in a hand-to-hand fight, still seething at being pitied. In his mind, Yuji sees a young Megumi ask the same question he once posed to Gojo. Tearfully, Yuji replies that he'll be lonely without him. Suddenly, Sukuna's left foot sinks into his own shadow, throwing him off balance. Sukuna realizes that Megumi's soul was revived by Yuji's Dismantle and is fighting back. Yuji capitalizes, battering Sukuna with punches. The two lock heads and exchange blows until Sukuna falters, being unable to heal from Yuji's soul-rending punches and feeling Hollow Wicker Basket weakening. Just as Yuji gains the upper hand, slashes tear through the gauntlet on his left arm as Sukuna restores Shrine using Gojo's method of resetting a burnt-out cursed technique. Sukuna prepares to unleash his domain expansion when he suddenly notices Yuji's left hand is missing its ring and pinky fingers. Elsewhere, one of Sukuna's fingers is suspended in the air by wires.[57]

Sukuna is hit by Resonance

Nobara's Resonance strikes Sukuna, bursting nails out of his chest.

Sukuna suddenly recalls that he only removed Yuji's little finger to incarnate into Megumi, realizing too late that Yuta had bluffed about using his last finger. Instead of copying Shrine from that finger, Yuta had used one of Yuji's. At a secret location, Yoshinobu Gakuganji and Utahime Iori oversee Sukuna's actual final finger. Gakuganji wonders how the finger could be affected by a cursed technique since it is a special cursed object immune to physical force and jujutsu sorcery. Utahime explains it could be done via a binding vow that forgoes destroying the cursed object in exchange for allowing a technique to pass through. She is more concerned about the person making the attack, who only regained consciousness less than thirty minutes ago. Nobara Kugisaki, revealed to be alive and wearing an eyepatch, joyfully tells her friends to rejoice.

Yuji's final Black Flash

Yuji ends the fight with one last Black Flash!

Driving a nail into the cursed finger, Nobara activates Resonance, causing several nails to erupt from Sukuna's chest. Horrified, Sukuna realizes his domain expansion has been disrupted, exposing him to Yuji's domain's sure-hit effect. Smiling at the confirmation that Nobara survived, Yuji unleashes his Dismantle, tearing into Sukuna's soul before kneeing him in the face. The two brawl fiercely, Yuji landing blow after blow as Sukuna vomits up the fingers he previously ingested. Even so, Sukuna remains confident that he will be victorious, as Yuji expended too much cursed energy from expanding his domain and hasn't healed himself with reverse cursed technique for a while. Unrelenting, Yuji continues to exchange blows with Sukuna. During their brawl, a glancing blow to his face followed by a surprise double strike catches Sukuna off guard. As the King of Curses staggers back, Yuji channels cursed energy into his fist and declares an end to Sukuna's curse. Landing a devastating uppercut to Sukuna's abdomen, Yuji triggers a devastating Black Flash, finally ending the lengthy battle.[58]

Within Megumi's mind, Sukuna berates him, blaming him for Tsumiki's death, for saving Yuji, and for the resulting deaths Yuji caused. He insists Megumi will never live a normal life and demands he give up. But Megumi sees through Sukuna's words and recognizes that the King of Curses is desperate and afraid. Due to losing nineteen of his fingers, the resonance between Sukuna's fingers would prevent the final one from carrying his soul once Yuji tears him out. As Sukuna begins to fade, Megumi rejects the idea of returning to a normal life, choosing to live for someone else's sake instead.

Yuji asks Sukuna to live

Yuji asks Sukuna to live with him once more.

Yuji's domain shatters as he lands the final punch, tearing Megumi free from Sukuna's body. The remains of Sukuna's form reach out in desperation but quickly erode into nothing. Walking to the last remaining piece of Sukuna, Yuji kneels beside him to talk to him one last time. He acknowledges that he and Sukuna are similar, recognizing that everyone is born with curses, but whether they become monsters is a matter of luck. Yuji credits his grandfather for steering him away from that path and offers Sukuna one last chance to live with him. Sukuna refuses, calling Yuji by name for the first time and declaring himself a curse through and through. With those final words, he disintegrates completely.[59]

Aftermath

Maki scolds Yuta

Maki scolds Yuta for his recklessness.

Some time later, Megumi wakes up in bed. Finding Yuji and Nobara waiting to surprise him, the three friends begin catching up. Yuji presents two letters from Shoko Ieiri, originally given to her by Gojo. Opening hers, Nobara finds details about her estranged mother and immediately crumples it, uninterested. Megumi opens his and begins laughing, causing Yuji and Nobara to look at his letter, which stuns them. In the letter, Gojo casually confesses to having killed Megumi's father. Realizing they're late for a meeting, Nobara urges the boys to head out. Megumi assumes it's for him to apologize to and thank everyone, but Yuji explains they need everyone present for a plan to save Yuta. As they walk down a corridor, they overhear someone cursing at Yuta, leaving Megumi puzzled.[60]

It is revealed that Maki was the one scolding Yuta, who has miraculously returned to his original body. As Yuji, Megumi, and Nobara arrive, Megumi attempts to apologize, but Maki brushes it off. Yuji also tries to take responsibility, but Kusakabe interrupts, saying the blame lies with Gojo for not killing Yuji and with Kenjaku for using him. Despite his previous pro-execution stance, Kusakabe tells the first-years the fault was with the adults, not them. Yuji then asks how Yuta returned to life. Yuta explains that after transferring his brain into Gojo's body, Rika kept his real body alive using reverse cursed technique. Once Kenjaku's burnt-out technique recovered, Yuta was near death but reconnected with Rika and eventually returned to his body. Kusakabe theorizes Kenjaku split his cursed techniques using barrier techniques, allowing his brain transplant technique to persist even after opening his domain.

Maki criticizes Yuta's battle choices, arguing things could have gone better if she ambushed Kenjaku, and Higuruma used the recording of Toge's voice. Todo disagrees, noting that Boogie Woogie wouldn't have worked on Maki and that Yuta and Rika were essential for stopping the rampaging cursed spirits. Panda adds that using cursed speech on Sukuna earlier would have killed Inumaki. Higuruma admits he chose to use the recording inside Yuta's domain, as his own forbids violence. Kusakabe is shocked Higuruma survived despite only being a sorcerer for two months, though the former lawyer sees it as unfortunate.

Tensions ease as Hakari and others join in, reflecting on their roles. Yuji credits Yuta for stopping Sukuna's second domain and hiding his fingers. Todo and Ino blame themselves for Choso's death, but Yuji assures them Choso saved his life. Miwa and others express regrets or frustrations, while Ui Ui declares himself MVP. As talk shifts to the New Shadow Style, Kusakabe confirms that a binding vow previously restricted teaching Simple Domain to outsiders. Mei Mei then explains that the New Shadow Style school monopolized Simple Domain to exploit sorcerers without cursed techniques, enforcing binding vows on disciples that allowed the head to absorb their lifespans. Kusakabe reveals he is the current head after the previous head's death and has already undone the vows.[61]

Yuji and Nobara find the curse user

Yuji and Nobara confront the curse user harassing the couple.

Some time later, at Tsumiki's grave, Megumi thanks Shoko for preparing his sister's body. Shoko expresses relief that she could make Tsumiki look peaceful for the next life, though she admits regret over not handling Geto's body and questions whether an afterlife exists. As they leave the cemetery, Megumi gets a phone call and departs, while Shoko lingers behind and tosses her cigarettes into a trash bin. Meanwhile, at the Holy Mountain of Hida, Gakuganji, Utahime, and Akari Nitta place Sukuna's remains in the mountain, as they contain Tengen's vestiges and will help maintain Japan's barrier for a while. Utahime urges planning future contingencies, but Gakuganji trusts the younger generation to handle what's to come. Elsewhere, Noritoshi Kamo returns to Japan with his mother and her family.

Maki visits Rokujushi Miyo and Hagane Daido, gifting the latter a proper katana, which moves him to tears. She explains that the Culling Game has lost its purpose, and sorcerers now aim to recover abducted players and strip cursed objects from incarnated ones, assigning Yuji and Hana to the task. Maki subtly advises Daido and Miyo to hide in Tokyo, still off-limits to most due to curses. Daido asks Maki to duel him someday, and she agrees. Elsewhere, Charles Bernard resumes drawing manga under supervision, while Fumihiko Takaba interviews his new comedy partner. Rin Amai returns to Sendai to apologize to a student he once bullied, only for the boy to run away. At his law office, Higuruma reunites with his colleagues, who are representing his victims' families and are pursuing a retrial against him, which Higuruma welcomes. Meanwhile, Hana runs into Megumi at Jujutsu High. When Megumi promises to take responsibility for Hana's missing arm, the girl misreads Megumi's vow to support her as a marriage proposal, leaving both of them flustered.[62]

Sukuna lets go of his curse

Sukuna chooses to live without cursing others in his next life.

The first-years of Tokyo Jujutsu High take on a new mission involving a man named Soto Fukuzawa, whose face was mysteriously altered two weeks prior, according to his fiancée. After meeting the couple, Megumi suspects a curse user is behind the incident rather than a cursed spirit.[63] To draw out the culprit, the students have the couple pretend to visit a friend at the top floor of a nearby condominium, moving them outside the cursed technique's range. The plan works, as the curse user takes the bait and is quickly apprehended. The culprit turns out to be a former client of Fukuzawa's fiancée from her time working at a cabaret club. As the curse user is taken away, Yuji assures him he'll be fine and says he looks forward to working with him. As they leave, Megumi asks about Sukuna's final finger, and Yuji reveals he disposed of it, as it was no longer a threat.

Sukuna's last finger unsealed

Sukuna's cursed finger is unsealed.

In the passageway of soul circulation, Sukuna encounters Mahito. The cursed spirit asks if Sukuna truly lived according to his nature, or out of revenge. Sukuna initially agrees with both statements as revenge befits his nature, but then admits he chose revenge because he feared his own curse when he could have lived another way. Wanting to live differently in his next life, Sukuna walks away with Uraume. Mahito mocks him for going soft, but Sukuna accepts his change and concedes defeat, to Mahito's frustration. As life moves on for the sorcerers, Sukuna's final finger lies forgotten, unsealed and exposed in a shed.[64]
