Jacob's Ladder (
Description
Leading to the activation of this technique, the user conjures a four-winged trumpet made of light accompanied by a large multi-layered magic array in the sky. The magic circle features a heptagram and crosses lining its periphery. Upon sounding the trumpet, a pillar of light descends from the circle and engulfs the target in its radiance. Within the pillar of light appear small, cherubic beings with wings and halos (and missing eyes and noses) that surround the target.
Any curse bathed in the light of Jacob's Ladder will be extinguished without prejudice, including special grade cursed objects such as Ryomen Sukuna and Prison Realm.[1][2]
Usage
The Angel and Hana Kurusu used Jacob's Ladder in an attempt to strip Sukuna from Megumi Fushiguro's body. The King of Curses was still early into the incarnation process and the Angel was willing to risk Megumi's life in order to eliminate the Disgraced One. After showering Sukuna in light, Hana summoned a four-winged trumpet and recited a brief incantation:
"O' Light. O' all-purifying light. Erase his sin, guilt, and sorrow. And guide him." (
Hana put the trumpet to her mouth and activated Jacob's Ladder at maximum cursed energy output. Jacob's Ladder produced a massive pillar of all-purifying light that completely engulfed Sukuna. He was injured by the light and cursed energy was vigorously drawn out of Megumi's body. Before Hana could completely strip Sukuna away, he manipulated her into deactivating the technique by pretending to be Megumi.[1]
The Angel was always confident her technique could break open Prison Realm. Hana did just that by using Jacob's Ladder on the "Back" of Prison Realm to destroy the cursed object and free Satoru Gojo.[2]
Trivia
- "Jacob's Ladder" (Hebrew: סֻלָּם יַעֲקֹב) is a ladder to heaven seen by the biblical Patriarch Jacob in a dream (Genesis 28:10–19). The term may also refer to so-called crepuscular rays — an atmospheric phenomenon whereby twilight sunbeams, shining through breaks within cloud covers, illuminate dust and/or haze in the air.
