Summary
It's the year 2006 when Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto were just second-year students at Tokyo Jujutsu High. The two "strongest" have been given a mission to escort the Star Plasma Vessel to Master Tengen.
Plot Details
Suguru Geto walks through dark alleyways hunting for cursed spirits during a busy summer when they were appearing frequently. Down this alley, Suguru finds a cursed spirit feeding on a deceased man and quickly absorbs it with his Cursed Spirit Manipulation. Suguru feels he is the only one who understands how taxing the process of absorbing curses is when he has to taste their filth. He's been repeating morally focused statements to himself on repeat to try and keep himself composed ever since "that day".
It all began in 2006. Grade 1 sorcerer Mei Mei and grade 2 sorcerer Utahime Iori are given a mission to investigate a cursed mansion ripe with paranormal activity and missing victims in Hamamatsu City. An assistant manager drives to the location and Utahime begins preparing to cast a curtain. Mei Mei interrupts Utahime and tells her that won't be necessary because they'll be exorcising the curse inside the building.
The two sorcerers enter the abandoned house and make note of the trash and filth laid about throughout every room of it. Utahime is frightened while Mei Mei stays composed and suggests that they split up to investigate each floor individually. Utahime reluctantly agrees but the two encounter each other on the same floor before long. Mei Mei reveals that she's passed by the same trail of garbage three times already and Utahime ponders if the cursed spirit has them trapped in its innate domain. Mei Mei notes the environment hasn't changed and explains that a domain is a manifestation of the mindscape. In this case, they're trapped within a barrier that was likely used to capture victims of the cursed spirit.
Mei Mei is confident the cursed spirit they are looking for is weak and they can exorcise it as long as they escape the barrier. She asks Utahime what their best course of action is as a way to quiz her. By pacing down the hallway repeatedly, Utahime figured out the hallway isn't in the shape of a circle, but a straight line that the barrier is patching together as the sorcerers move along it. She believes that by running down the hallway at top speed, they'll be able to break the barrier once it's incapable of keeping up. Mei Mei gives Utahime's idea ninety out of a hundred points because she adds that they should run in opposite directions as well.
Utahime and Mei Mei put their plan into action and it appears successful at first. However, Utahime quickly realizes the entire mansion is being ripped apart by some unknown force. She jumps outside the building and survives falling beneath some rubble. Once the entire building has been destroyed, Utahime climbs out of the debris and finds her junior, Satoru Gojo, who has come to her rescue.
The barrier distorted the girls' sense of time while they were inside it. Second-year Tokyo Jujutsu High students; Satoru Gojo, Suguru Geto, and Shoko Ieiri were dispatched as reinforcements after two days. Utahime yells at Satoru for being so reckless and a giant cursed spirit springs up from the ground to attack her. Suguru uses an even larger curse to immobilize it within its mouth. He tells Satoru not to tease Utahime but ends up just making fun of her more. Utahime greets Shoko, the only one she's happy to see, and tells her not to turn out like the boys. Shoko assures Utahime she would never end up as garbage like Satoru and Suguru.
Mei Mei realizes that she'll be getting two days labor pay out of this assignment and then asks the students about the curtain. Satoru, Suguru, and Shoko are all stumped as no one put up the barrier. Everyone returns to Jujutsu High and Masamichi Yaga disciplines his students. He asks which of the trio claimed they would put up a curtain themselves and left their assistant manager behind only to forget to cast it. Suguru and Shoko are quick to point out Satoru, who comically tries to talk his way out of it. Masamichi physically punishes Satoru and the students move on to recreational time in the gym. While Shoko plays with Satoru's glasses, he claims to not see the necessity for hiding jujutsu from non-sorcerers.
Satoru finds protecting the weak exhausting while Suguru believes that is the very duty of every jujutsu sorcerer. Satoru mocks Suguru for his ideals and their conversation escalates in tension. Shoko runs away while Suguru summons a curse and threatens Satoru to take things outside. Satoru replies with a smart remark just before Masamichi bursts into the room and reveals they've received a mission. The two "strongest" are to escort the Star Plasma Vessel to Master Tengen and erase her. Satoru and Suguru are confused about the "erase her" part of the mission and taunt Masamichi for letting his promotion go to his head.
Satoru is confused about the Star Plasma Vessel and its relationship to Tengen. Masamichi and Suguru explain that Tengen's innate technique must be refreshed by merging with a Star Plasma Vessel or else they could evolve into a threat to humanity. The vessel's location has been leaked and two groups of curse users are after them: Q and the Time Vessel Association. Masamichi reveals the merger is set for two days from now and officially gives the students their task to protect the girl and escort her safely back to Jujutsu High.
Satoru and Suguru leave school and the former asks why the Time Vessel Association would be after the Star Plasma Vessel. Suguru explains that they're a group of non-curse users who view the merger as an impurity to their diety. They arrive at the hotel where the vessel is staying. Suguru goes inside to secure them while Satoru remains outside. They remain in communication over the phone where Satoru overstates his confidence regarding why he was chosen for this mission. As Suguru approaches the target's room, he reprimands Satoru for his arrogance. Suguru rings the doorbell and a girl replies that she's coming when suddenly a bomb explodes.
Suguru uses a cursed spirit to shield himself from the blast and sees the girl falling out of the building. He summons a flying cursed spirit to catch the girl before she falls to her death. Q soldier, Kokun arrives to confirm the kill with the vessel's attendant in hand only to find Suguru taunting. Meanwhile, a second Q soldier, Bayer, sends several knives at Satoru while he's still on the phone. The knives are stopped by his Infinity and Bayer commends Satoru, recognizing his name for being famous. He challenges Satoru and the Jujutsu High student tells him that he won't kill him as long as the curse user begs for mercy.
Inside a nearby skyscraper, two men watch from glass windows as Q attempts to assassinate the Star Plasma Vessel. Shiu Kong offers a man he calls "Zenin" a contract to kill the vessel. The man clarifies that he goes by "Fushiguro" now and accepts the job.

Anime & Manga Differences
- The episode opens with an anime original scene adapted from pages 11 - 14 of Chapter 76 where Geto's monologue leads into the flashback proper.
- Pages 2 - 5 of Chapter 65 are greatly extended in the adaptation to include more information surrounding Mei Mei and Utahime's mission. In the manga, Mei Mei and Utahime found themselves trapped and worked out a solution together when Satoru suddenly busted them out before they ever moved. In the anime, the sorcerers are driven to the house where they discuss the mission. They thoroughly explore the mansion and Mei Mei quizzes Utahime on how to get out of the barrier instead of working it out together. The details about the walls of the building being indestructible are omitted as well.
- Satoru and Suguru's argument as well as Masamichi's speech take place in the basketball gym instead of the classroom.
- In the manga, the bomb that exploded in Riko's room did so while Suguru was still outside with Satoru. He only separated from Satoru when he caught Riko. In the anime, Suguru split up from Satoru to go Riko's room inside the hotel while they remained in contact over their cellphones. Suguru set off the bomb and the explosion blasted Riko outside rather than her being tossed out of the building by Kokun.
