The Shibuya Incident, Part 4 ( (しぶ) () () (へん) Shibuya Jihen 4?) is the eighty-sixth chapter of Gege Akutami's Jujutsu Kaisen.

Summary

With another curtain keeping other sorcerers from entering the lower levels of Shibuya, Team Mei Mei heads into Meiji-Jinguemae Station to find the barrier's caster. Mei Mei and Yuji decide to split up to reduce casualties and the jujutsu student comes face to face with a very "smart" cursed spirit.

Plot Details

Mei Mei's crows

Mei Mei's crows scout out the inside of Meiji-Jingumae Station.

Mei Mei manipulates crows with her cursed technique and orders them to scout out Meiji-Jingumae Station. She can share vision with them and sends multiple crows inside to search the inside before her team moves in.

Yuji is anxious to move in but Ui Ui explains that his sister needs to concentrate. Mei Mei finishes up and asks Yuji if he would like to exorcise a bunch of weak curses or a strong one. She knows he would like the latter and explains the situation to him.

There are five basement floors in the station and the curtain is above BF1. Transfigured humans are attacking civilians in B4F and forcing them down to B5F on the Fukutoshin Line Platform. The curtain is prohibiting sorcerers from entering B5F and some of Mei Mei's crows were taken out between B1F and B2F. The curtain's caster will be there as it's an ideal position considering the barrier's conditions and the enemy's plan to keep civilians from escaping to higher floors. Yuji asks if Mahito is down at B5F, the main point of separation but Mei Mei isn't sure, although she says it's very likely considering the transfigured humans inside.

Yuji finds the Grasshopper Curse at B2F

Yuji finds the curse guarding the curtain.

Mei Mei doesn't want to split up with but they need to if they're going to save anyone on B4F. Mei Mei will enter through exit seven on the opposite side of the station and heads down to rescue the civilians. At the same time, she tasks Yuji with entering here at exit 2 and finding the curtain's caster. Their best-case scenario is when they regroup the curtain will be lifted and they'll have figured out the enemy's objective in B5F. Yuji assures Mei Mei that will be the case because he's done with losing.

Yuji kicks the Grasshopper Curse

Yuji demands the grasshopper curse and all of it's race stop belittling humans.

At 9:03 pm, in B2F of Meiji-Jingueme Station, Yuji discovered a grasshopper curse devouring a deceased man's head. Yuji is revolted by the scene and the curse, who claims himself to be smart, recognizes Yuji is a jujutsu sorcerer because he's smart. Yuji asks about the "patch face curse" and the grasshopper reveals that Mahito is down below. Gojo told Yuji before that barrier techniques can be difficult even for strong sorcerers with innate techniques. Yuji doubts the grasshopper can do both like Gojo and realizes the curse appears to be guarding a mysterious stake sticking out of the ground. He realizes the grasshopper claimed he needed to "protect" the curtain and decides that the thing sticking out of the ground is his target.

Ko-Guy tells Yuji that transfigured humans don't taste as good as normal ones and that he knows this because he's smart. Annoyed, Yuji kicks the curse into the wall, cracking the surface from the impact. He quickly follows up with a right straight punch to the grasshopper's torso and states that curses need to stop looking down on humans. The grasshopper says Yuji isn't smart and those who aren't smart die. He asks what kind of curse Yuji thinks he is and Yuji is able to pick up on the obvious answer. This makes Ko-Guy realize that Yuji is actually smart.
