As Yuji's duel with Aoi Todo reaches his climax, he learns what it truly means to reach his potential. With Aoi's guiding expertise, Yuji begins to grow toward new heights of power. Meanwhile, Mechamaru backs up Momo in her confrontation with Nobara and Panda.
There is a saying within the artistic community. It is impossible for the hand to move faster than the eye. If someone doesn't have an eye that can judge quality, they can never create anything of value with their hands. Many disciplines believe this to be true, including jujutsu. The rate of growth for people who possess this eye far eclipses the rate of those who do not.
Using a vertical lead left jab, Yuji is able to counter Aoi's right hook. This shows Aoi that Yuji is growing as a fighter. He's able to break down Aoi's offense and is growing by devouring his opponent. However, Aoi stops Yuji's fist from gaining momentum by blocking it with his head and says Yuji needs to devour something else entirely.
Aoi reveals that Yuji's Divergent Fist stems from the cursed energy left behind by Yuji's superhuman speed. He admits its a good technique against an average sorcerer but it's useless against a special grade. Yuji realizes that he must apply cursed energy at the exact moment his attack hits. In order to do so, Yuji must learn to make his cursed energy flow properly.
Aoi teaches Yuji that flowing cursed energy is something most sorcerer's do consciously. It starts from the stomach into the chest throughout the rest of the body. Thinking of one's body parts as desperate sections is what delays cursed energy. Yuji can't get stuck at simply speeding up his flow even if reading the flow of cursed energy is difficult. Aoi teaches Yuji that everyone exists in this world with their entire body and soul even if most people have taken that maxim for granted.
Aoi's wise words help Yuji understand what it means to make cursed energy flow throughout his body, unlocking his true potential. Done talking, Aoi and Yuji go all out against one another so that the latter can climb to new heights by joining his new best friend down the path of the mighty.
Meanwhile, Nobara asks Momo if the Kyoto Principal ordered the students to kill Yuji. She threatens to kill Momo, Mai, and all of her classmates in return because she's crazy mad about the order. Suddenly, Panda is shot and immobilized by Mechamaru, but Momo wants to take on Nobara on her own. She wants to teach the first-year the kind of hardships female sorcerers like Mai have to live with.
Panda suddenly recovers, having been faking an injury the whole time and lands a hard right hook on Mechamaru. He reveals that Mechamaru is a cursed corpse like him, but this only serves to anger Mechamaru, who gears up to fight. As they prepare to face off, Panda asks what happened to the point of the event being hunting curses.
