Inhuman Makyo Shinjuku Showdown, Part 35 (
Summary
Yuta Okkotsu and Sukuna's clash comes to an abrupt end after their domains' collapse and their techniques burn out. However, at the eleventh hour, the sorcerers still have a trump card to play.
Plot Details
The small domain's barrier ruptures, signalling the conclusion of Yuta's duel with Sukuna. Jumping out first is Sukuna, whose face is heavily injured and bloodied. He remarks that although Yuta's Hollow Technique: Purple hit him, his inexperience with using the technique caused him to also destroy his domain's barrier. Through the smoke, Yuji, Todo, and Yuta emerge and give chase to Sukuna. Todo tells Yuta to fire off as many Hollow Purples as he wants after he recovers his cursed technique, as he will use Boogie Woogie to move him and Yuji out of the crossfire.
However, Yuta suddenly collapses as his copied brain transplant technique burns out due to using domain expansion, causing it to end before the five-minute mark. Yuta notes that since Rika wasn't with him, he no longer had access to Copy, before wondering why Kenjaku's technique was exhausted along with Limitless. Yuta realizes that Kenjaku must have had some method that allowed him to act freely after opening a domain, which he did not learn upon copying the technique. At his limit, Yuta resolves to at least maintain the shards of his barrier to aid the other two.
With Todo briefly distracted by Yuta's fall, Sukuna lands a Black Flash on him and breaks apart his vibraslap. Yuji rushes to attack Sukuna, teleporting behind him as Todo strikes with what remains of his vibraslap, declaring that he is not out of the fight yet. As Yuji punches him, Sukuna realizes that Todo is swapping his location with the barrier fragments, which are clumps of cursed energy that can be targeted by Boogie Woogie.
Rapidly teleporting around Sukuna, Yuji eventually finds an opening and touches the King of Curses. Calling for Megumi, he activates Dismantle, slashing at the boundary between Sukuna and Megumi's soul. Realizing Yuji made a binding vow that allowed the cursed technique to rend souls more effectively by restricting its target, Sukuna concluded that continuing to be hit by it would prevent him from maintaining control over his body. Desperate, he vomits a few of his fingers before crushing and consuming them again.
Sukuna jumps onto a wall, but Yuji quickly collapses it with Cleave. As the King of Curses falls down, Yuji tries to punch him, only for Sukuna to evade the strike mid-air before punching him into a wall. Sukuna is confident that he will win as long as Yuji can't hit him. Meanwhile, Todo doubts that his spare vibraslap would be registered as his left hand for Boogie Woogie, so he continues to use his broken one and strikes with it again. There is seemingly no swap until he uses it once more, breaking the instrument but teleporting Hana Kurusu with a glowing trumpet above Sukuna, having expanded his cursed technique's range through a binding vow.
Shortly after she recovered with the help of Shoko Ieiri and Yuta Okkotsu, Hana wondered what would happen to Megumi. Even though Hana's only role was to unseal Satoru Gojo, Yuta asked her for help during their battle against Sukuna. He elaborated that she did not need to participate in combat, and only had to fire Jacob's Ladder as the finishing blow. Her attack will be a last-ditch effort to split Sukuna and Megumi's souls.
Yuta believed that Copy's true strength lied in decreasing his opponent's awareness of the original user of the copied technique. His opponents usually focused on how many techniques he had and what they were instead of expecting the original users to appear. Those who knew the conditions of his technique were especially preconceived by the idea that he stole the techniques instead of copying them. In the present, Sukuna turns around in shock as Hana blasts him with Jacob's Ladder at maximum cursed energy output.
