Inhuman Makyo Shinjuku Showdown, Part 29 (人外 (じんがい) () (きょう) (しん) 宿 (じゅく) 決戦 (けっせん) Jingai Makyō Shinjuku Kessen 29?) is the two hundred and fifty-seventh chapter of Gege Akutami's Jujutsu Kaisen.

Summary

The uncanny origins of Yuji Itadori are revealed! The special circumstances surrounding Yuji's existence grant him the potential to not only rival the King of Curses, but surpass him!

Plot Details

Before his showdown with Satoru Gojo, Sukuna was questioned by Uraume on who Yuji Itadori truly was. Sukuna stated that Yuji was Kenjaku's child, and that Yuji's father, Jin Itadori, was the reincarnation of Sukuna's twin brother, whom he ate in the womb. Sukuna further revealed that Kenjaku had planted one of his fingers in Yuji when he was born so that he could serve as a vessel for him and as a player of the Culling Game. Uraume wondered if that meant Yuji had the potential to equal Sukuna.

In the present, Yuji and Sukuna exchange blows of Black Flash, which launch the former away. As he grabs onto a pillar, markings that resemble two cutting lines and scissors appear on it. Currently, Yuji possesses two cursed techniques: Blood Manipulation, which he gained by absorbing Death Painting Wombs No. 4-9, and Shrine, which was engraved in him due to Sukuna's incarnation and drawn out by the awakened state brought about by Black Flash.

Cutting out the pillar, Yuji throws it out Sukuna, who counters by slicing it into small pieces. Through the debris, Yuji grabs onto Sukuna's foot and tries to cut it off with Shrine. Sukuna sends slashes flying at him, but Yuji is unperturbed by the damage and lands a body shot, triggering a third Black Flash. After being launched away, Sukuna heals his injured foot and notes that even though Yuji is using the same cursed technique as him, its effects manifest differently due to the different eras they were born in. However, since it was recently awakened, the output is low.

When Ino talked with Gojo, Shoko and Ijichi, he asked if they would permit him to use Nanami's cursed tool. Despite his worries, Ino was surprised that they unanimously agreed to let him use it, as they believed Nanami trusted him the most.

In the present, Ino summons Auspicious Beast Number Four: Ryu. A serpentine dragon-like creature bursts forth from his hands and smashes Sukuna into the wall behind him, though it is quickly dispatched by his slashes. Ino tries to attack Sukuna with the blunt sword, but his swing is stopped by his foot. Nonetheless, his attack distracted Sukuna from Yuji, who lands his fourth Black Flash on the King of Curses and punches him away. As the pain-numbing effect of Kirin wears off, Ino lays on the ground and believes he has failed his role.

Yuji's seventh consecutive Black Flash

Yuji hits his seventh Black Flash on Sukuna.

Meanwhile, Sukuna grows increasingly frustrated by Yuji's consecutive Black Flashes, believing the boy is trying to become his equal. As Yuji jumps down to him, Sukuna crumbles the ground to destroy Yuji's footing before striking him with a punch combined with slashes. The injury does not faze Yuji as he throws Sukuna into a wall before hitting him with a fifth Black Flash. Sukuna retaliates by grabbing Yuji's face and activating his technique, heavily slicing the right side of the latter's face.

Unrelenting, Yuji lands a solid punch to Sukuna's face and triggers a sixth Black Flash. This thoroughly enrages Sukuna as he curses at Yuji, though he is interrupted as Nanami's blunt sword slashes his neck, which was revealed to be thrown by Ino, who cheers Yuji on as the young sorcerer lands his seventh consecutive Black Flash on the King of Curses' back.

I misspelled the “heart catch” ability in the Japanese version. Just a dumb mistake.
