Inhuman Makyo Shinjuku Showdown, Part 21 (
Summary
The surprise attack on Kenjaku was successful but his failsafe remains firmly a threat in the hands of Sukuna. Yuta takes responsibility for the precarious situation by going all out with Yuji and Rika at his side to bring this showdown to a decisive end.
Plot Details
The cursed spirits rampage after their manipulator's death.
As Kenjaku declared that his will shall be inherited, Yuta noticed a shake from the curse user's headless body. He realized too late that Kenjaku's death caused him to lose control over Cursed Spirit Manipulation, thus releasing all of his absorbed cursed spirits. As the swarm of curses burst out of the forest and rushed onto a bridge, Rika appeared before them and began destroying them, stopping the stampede of cursed spirits.
Meanwhile in the forest, a writhing black mass attached Kenjaku's head to itself as he requested his Kogane to add a rule to the Culling Game that gave Megumi Fushiguro the authority to activate the Great Merger between the Japanese people and Tengen. As Kogane accepted and added the rule, Kenjaku revealed that as part of his backup plan, he had Sukuna undergo the ritual of succession beforehand, and all he needed to do was overwrite the originator of the merging ritual using the Culling Game as a basis. Yuta noticed a fetus-like Tengen inside an orb in the black mass, which quickly burst out of the orb and flew to Sukuna at high speeds. In response, he leapt at Kenjaku's head and stabbed his katana through his brain. With a smile, Kenjaku admitted that while he did not have as much fun, he was glad that he got to fool around with Fumihiko Takaba in the end. He then told Yuta that it was his turn to have fun, and promised that it will be amusing.
In the present, Yuta stares down at Sukuna and notices that his reverse cursed technique output is recovering, meaning he will regain his ability to use Domain Expansion soon. Blaming himself for Hiromi Higuruma's death and the failure of the plan, Yuta tries to convince himself that Rika was needed to deal with the released cursed spirits. He then rushes at Sukuna, with Rika obstructing the latter's vision with her body as Yuta thrusts his katana at Sukuna through it. Sukuna dodges the sword and grabs it, with Yuta realizing that he is surrounding his hand with miniature chainsaw-like slashes to avoid directly touching the blade.

Yuta lets go of the katana, and Rika attacks Sukuna at the same time. Fending off the cursed spirit with two of his hands, Sukuna is left open to a gut punch from Yuta, causing the mouth on his stomach to wince. Repossessing his sword, Yuta engages in a few physical exchanges with Sukuna as Rika assists him. Admitting that he is only making excuses for himself, Yuta resolves to make up for his faults by finishing off Sukuna and activates his domain expansion: Authentic Mutual Love.
Reacting to Yuta's domain expansion, Sukuna immediately uses Hollow Wicker Basket, neutralizing the domain's sure-hit effect. Yuta quickly grabs one of the katanas created by his domain and swings at Sukuna. Sukuna blocks the slash, but notes a crack forming on the blade as Yuta uses Thin Ice Breaker to increase its force.
As the katana shatters into nothingness, Sukuna realizes what the sorcerers' backup plan is. Using Megumi's memories, he knows that Yuta's innate technique is Copy, and he surmises the domain's sure-hit effect is likely the Angel's Technique Extinguishment. Their plan is to handicap him by forcing him to constantly neutralize the sure-hit effect using Hollow Wicker Basket, thus occupying half of his arms and mouths to form the hand signs and chant the incantations, while Yuta attacks him with his copied cursed techniques so Yuji Itadori could tear him from Megumi's body through his soul-seizing punches. As the two jujutsu high students and Rika face down Sukuna, he sarcastically congratulates Yuji for finally having a role to play.
