Summary
Fascinated by talent that rivals Satoru Gojo, Sukuna has his eyes firmly set on Hiromi Higuruma. Yuji tries to get him out of the desperate situation but Higuruma is ready to embrace his role until the end.
Plot Details
Even more so than Higuruma's ability to use Domain Amplification, Sukuna is intrigued by his finesse with the anti-domain technique. Higuruma was able interrupt and resume his Executioner's Sword while using amplification instead of completely nullifying it. This was a feat that Sukuna demonstrated during his battle against Satoru Gojo, where he was careful to only interrupt Mahoraga's adaptation rather than nullify it whenever he activated amplification.
"Hiromi Higuruma.. that's your name right?"
Fascinated by Higuruma's prowess, Sukuna decides to further test the awakened sorcerer's abilities. After performing hand signs with his extra arms, Sukuna cuts apart the building they were in. Yuji, who arrived outside of the building as this happened, joins the battle. Standing on the falling debris, Higuruma charges at Sukuna, but is distracted by pieces of debris near his face that Sukuna shattered using Dismantle. Taking advantage of the diversion, Sukuna approaches Yuji, who tries to punch him and protect Higuruma. However, Sukuna intercepts his arm and grabs the left side of his torso before activating Cleave, cutting half of Yuji's lower torso into pieces. As the bloodied young man falls to the ground, Sukuna remarks on how boring he is.
Yuji attempts to aid Higuruma against Sukuna.
As the destroyed building collapses on the ground, Sukuna and Higuruma emerge from the wreckage. Higuruma fruitlessly tries to hit Sukuna with the Executioner's Sword all the while suffering punches from him. Eventually, Sukuna jumps away from Higuruma and chants the incantations for Dismantle, unleashing a slash that cuts the world on the lawyer that slices apart the bridge he stood on.
Higuruma's achieves reverse cursed technique.
Higuruma was able to dodge the slash, but was unable to avoid it completely, as his right arm was severed. Impressed with Higiruma's rapid growth, Sukuna tells Higuruma to achieve reverse cursed technique and heal. Higuruma believed he was prepared but admits that pain still hurts to a great degree. He tries to bear through the pain and charge Sukuna, who cuts off his left hand and slashes his legs in response, preventing him from moving. Sukuna threatens to cut off Higuruma's head if he does not heal himself while dryly encouraging him. As Higuruma remembers his wish to fulfil his role and then die, Sukuna is suddenly hit by Piercing Blood, though he blocks it with his arm and notes that the technique belonged to the Death Painting Womb older brother.
Yuji grabs hold of the curses entrusted to him with his own hands!
Seizing the opportunity provided by the brief distraction, Higuruma immediately regenerates his right arm, heals his legs with reverse cursed technique, and seemingly stabs Sukuna's hand with the Executioner's Sword. However, the King of Curses cut off his hand before Higuruma pierced it, but commends him for his effort nonetheless. As Sukuna activates Cleave on Higuruma, the latter winces in pain and remembers a conversation he had with Kusakabe about curses becoming stronger after death.
Higuruma then tosses away the cross inside the Executioner's Sword, which is caught by Yuji, who appears behind Sukuna. As Higuruma is slashed apart, he finally looks Yuji in the eyes and tells him that he has done what he can. Recalling Nanami's last words, Yuji prepares to stab Sukuna in the back with the Executioner's Sword, proudly upholding the curse he was entrusted with as a jujutsu sorcerer.
