Inhuman Makyo Shinjuku Showdown, Part 18 (
Summary[]
The plan to get Sukuna the death penalty goes awry but the jujutsu sorcerers still place their bets on the Executioner's Sword to win. His inexperience may have resulted in this desperate situation but even Sukuna recognizes that Hiromi Higuruma's talent and determination may just be enough to get them out of it.
Plot Details[]

Kusakabe uses Simple Domain to defend himself and Higuruma.
As Higuruma curses his inexperience, Kusakabe activates Simple Domain to protect himself from Sukuna's slashes. The King of Curses notices that all of his opponents have improved their basic cursed energy reinforcement. Additionally, the Simple Domain, while not as effective as Domain Amplification, sufficiently weakened his cursed technique enough to reduce the damage dealt by his flying slashes.
Meanwhile, Kusakabe takes note of Sukuna's techniques. He speculates that Sukuna cannot casually unleash enhanced Dismantle slashes, dubbed "the slashes that cut the world", as a cursed technique typically requires a binding vow or charging time to broaden its target area. Kusakabe breaks down each of Sukuna's techniques, summarizing that Cleave, a point-blank Dismantle, and an slash that cuts the world cannot be defended against and will generally result in instant death. He wonders why Sukuna isn't using his fire like back in Shibuya, but gives up on worrying about it.
Kusakabe checks up on Higuruma, who apologizes for being unable to confiscate Sukuna's technique. Kusakabe reassures Higuruma that robbing Sukuna of Kamutoke and activating the Executioner's Sword are good enough. He promises to stake his life to protect the lawyer since the Executioner's Sword is their best chance at defeating the King of Curses.

Sukuna effortlessly takes down Choso.
Sukuna comments on how his adversaries have bolstered their defenses and declares he'll test their speed next. Choso fires Piercing Blood at Sukuna, but he seemingly disappears before the beam of blood could hit him. Before Choso can react, Sukuna appears before him and pierces two of his hands through his body, critically injuring the Death Painting Womb before throwing him aside as Yuji catches him.

Sukuna isolates Higuruma by throwing him a great distance.
A blade is then thrown at Sukuna, who deflects it into the air. The blade, revealed to be the cursed tool formerly wielded by Nanami, is then caught by Ino as he slashes down on Sukuna with it. Despite blocking the blunt sword with his arm, Sukuna notices the strike is stronger than expected as the ground beneath his feet gives way to the impact. Sukuna realizes that the cursed tool is imbued with Nanami's Ratio Technique and kicks Ino away. Ino blocks the kick with the sword but nonetheless feels the heavy impact from the attack.
Yuji and Kusakabe approach Sukuna, but are forced on the defensive by his slashes. Higuruma flips over Kusakabe's back and attempts to slash Sukuna but he avoids it and grabs him. Sukuna rapidly punches Higuruma before throwing him far away to isolate him. He gives chase after Higuruma, with Yuji racing against him but quickly realizing how much faster Sukuna is. As Higuruma catches his fall inside a destroyed building, Sukuna instantly appears before him and unleashes slashes that shred the building apart.

Higuruma uses domain amplification.
Prior to the showdown, Yuji informed the others that Higuruma's cursed technique could be used to save Megumi Fushiguro after their group decided on a plan for fighting Sukuna. Higuruma explained that since the Executioner's Sword can only kill a target that received the death sentence from Judgeman, and the shikigami has demonstrated the ability to distinguish multiple souls within an incarnated body as seen with Yuji. He believes killing Sukuna with the Executioner's Sword would allow Megumi's dormant soul to recover his body.

"...By a man with talent equal to Satoru Gojo's."
Later that night, Yuji asked if Higuruma wanted to die, since he can't use reverse cursed technique but is taking a pivotal role against battling Sukuna. Higuruma explained that he wanted to punish himself, since he abandoned the law and vice versa. To do that, he wanted to fulfil his role and then die. Yuji resonated with the sentiment, but still felt that Higuruma should stay alive. The lawyer refused the idea, as he could no longer look Yuji in the eyes due to the guilt he carries.
Back in the present, it is revealed that Higuruma used Domain Amplification to neutralize the slashes, surprising Sukuna. Having awakened as a jujutsu sorcerer only less than two months ago, Higuruma's extraordinary growth with jujutsu sorcery fascinates Sukuna. The Executioner's Sword rekindles its light, wielded by a sorcerer with talent that rivals even that of Satoru Gojo.
