Heading South (
Summary
Satoru Gojo reunites with those fallen as the battle of the strongest comes to a devastating conclusion.
Plot Details
Satoru Gojo has fallen to Sukuna and his soul/mind arrives in a limbo fantasy of sorts set in an airport. His late best friend, Suguru Geto, is the first to greet him.
They both appear as they did as students of Tokyo Jujutsu High. Gojo ignores Suguru's greeting and sulks about dying, proclaiming that he hopes this is some kind of dream. He's annoyed about not telling Megumi about his father until he remembers he asked Shoko to handle it.
Suguru asks about the fight with Sukuna and Gojo admits he was incredibly powerful. He even claims it wouldn't have been close even if Sukuna didn't have the Ten Shadows Technique. Despite the admiration for Sukuna's strength, Gojo feels sorry for the King of Curses. He understands the isolation that comes with unrivaled strength. All of Gojo's power, skill, intellect, and effort weren't enough to beat the King of Curses, but he still enjoyed the fight. He believes it's unfortunate that Sukuna couldn't go all out and find that same satisfaction. Gojo's only true regret was not having Suguru there at the end to slap him on the back.
Gojo is glad he died against a stronger opponent instead of in a dishonorable fashion. Nanami and Haibara appear and tease Gojo about the samurai-like sentiment. Nanami tells Gojo that they couldn't leave everything to him because he always acted out of self-satisfaction. Even so, Nanami admits it was a fitting end for his friend. Gojo asks Nanami about his death and he responds with something Mei Mei once told him. When Nanami asked her where he should live, Mei Mei told him to go north if he wanted to become someone new and to go south if he wished to return to who he was before. He decided to go south due to an attachment to the past and finds it ironic that he died for the future.
Yaga is in the airport as well. Gojo teases him about his saying that a sorcerer never dies without regret. Feeling as if he is a clear exception, Gojo and his allies laugh as he says he hopes this fantasy isn't a dream after all.
Back in reality, Gojo's body has been brutally bisected by a Dismantle that targets the world. Sukuna explains how Mahoraga's adaptation works and how it adapted further to the Infinity. Sukuna used this as a model for himself to achieve the near-impossible task of expanding his cursed technique to target the world itself. That cut everything in that space regardless of the Infinity, killing Gojo. Rather than boast in victory, Sukuna admits that Satoru Gojo was a magnificent opponent who he'll never forget.
With Gojo's death, the next sorcerer steps up to face the King of Curses without wasting any time. Sukuna senses them approaching and expresses that he's feeling elated and doesn't want to be interrupted. What's coming is the God of Lightning, Hajime Kashimo, dashing toward near-certain death.

There was a week off in between, so it seems like I forgot to make a chapter. |
