Inhuman Makyo Shinjuku Showdown, Part 9 (人外 (じんがい) () (きょう) (しん) 宿 (じゅく) 決戦 (けっせん) Jingai Makyō Shinjuku Kessen 9?) is the two hundred and thirty-first chapter of Gege Akutami's Jujutsu Kaisen.

Summary

The absurdity of Satoru Gojo and Sukuna's clash reaches a point where the onlookers have no idea what will happen next. Sukuna uses Mahoraga's adaptation to deal with the Infinity. Undeterred, Gojo plans on winning before Sukuna can fully adapt. Thus, the countdown to the climax of their battle begins!

Plot Details

To emphasize his coming point, Kusakabe asks who among those watching the fight has taken a serious punch from Gojo. Yuji and Panda have tried to hit Gojo but weren't successful. Yuta and Hakari have taken punches that applied the Limitless. Kusakabe reveals that Gojo's punches are not only reinforced with cursed energy, but he also uses Blue to absorb the surrounding space as the blow lands. Hakari describes the feeling of being hit by it like a counterpunch that lands even after preparing for the hit. Kirara asks Yuta and Hakari how much it hurts and both admit it made them vomit.

Nanami and Yuji flashback

Nanami telling Yuji that Gojo can’t be rivaled.

In the past, Nanami emphasized to Yuji that it's pointless to compare oneself to Gojo because he simply can't be rivaled. Critical hits that Nanami worked hard to achieve were like simple jabs for Gojo. Kusakabe's point is that from this moment on in the fight, he has no idea what Gojo will come up with next.

After landing a powerful right hook, Gojo drags Sukuna across the side of a building. He throws Sukuna away and tries to trap him in debris using Blue. Sukuna quickly breaks out and Gojo follows up with a flying kick. Sukuna ducks under it but Gojo has already created a field of attraction above them that forces Sukuna's head towards Gojo's follow-up axe-kick. Sukuna cleverly avoids the kick by flipping forward and using Blue's attraction to lift the back of his lower body. He activates domain amplification, turning Mahoragas's wheel black as he tries to deliver a spinning axe kick of his own. However, Gojo disappears and creates four clones to confuse his opponent.

Satoru Gojo throwing Sukuna

"I have no idea what Gojo is going to do next."

Sukuna quickly sees through Gojo's trick and finds the real body. He delivers a punch Gojo is unable to fully block and he's sent flying back. Gojo recovers on top of a traffic light and Mahoraga's wheel suddenly spins. This concerns those watching because they're unsure if this means that Sukuna has already adapted. Gojo notes that Sukuna can still use amplification but not expansion due to the damage affecting the part of his brain responsible for casting barriers. Sukuna surmises that Gojo is only using Lapse so he can't also adapt to Reversal. The traffic light turns green and the two fighters clash on cue. Gojo uses Blue to force the traffic light towards Sukuna but he grabs it and throws it back only for it to be halted by the Infinity.

Three spins until Sukuna adapts

Gojo knows three spins of Mahoraga's wheel will adapt it to his Infinity.

Sukuna hasn't brought Mahoraga back out and it took five domain clashes to adapt to Unlimited Void. Mei Mei, Hakari, and Kusakabe surmise that it takes multiple spins of Mahoraga's wheel to adapt to any application of the Limitless. Gojo knows it will take exactly more three spins of the wheel for Mahoraga to adapt to the Infinity, surprising those watching. Sukuna claims they have a countdown until Gojo loses his smirk but this comment only makes his smile bigger.

Gojo is confident that he'll kill Sukuna before he even hits three spins. This comment makes Hana question if Gojo has forgotten about saving Megumi. Yuji agrees that he might have and Kashimo says it's fine if he does, to which Yuji and Hana immediately disagree.

I enjoy talking to my friend about RIZIN, and somehow Haruhi slips into the conversation. It’s always funny.
