Summary
Across five domain expansions, Sukuna has done the impossible and countered Unlimited Void! Satoru Gojo believes victory is still at hand until he suffers the backlash from exceeding limits that even "the strongest" possess.
Plot Details
Mahoraga, destruction incarnate, has descended on the battle of the strongest! Mei Mei recognizes the shikigami as the secret crown jewel of the Zenin clan. Choso is aware of Mahoraga's ability to adapt and Yuji is surprised it's even adapted to Unlimited Void. Sukuna regains consciousness and heals his chest wound as the shikigami returns to his shadow.
Destruction incarnate enters the fray!!
In his fight with Yorozu, Sukuna took the process of Mahoraga's adaptation upon himself to counter her Construction technique. Across five domain clashes, Gojo's sure-hit effect targeted everything within the domain while Sukkuna's targeted everything other than himself. This means that Unlimited Void's effect hit Sukuna five times, but he wasn't quite the one who was affected.
Confused, Gojo quickly tries to determine how Mahoraga adapted to Unlimited Void in less than 0.1 seconds. He realizes that's impossible and the one taking on Unlimited Void's effect for Mahoraga to adapt was Megumi's soul. Gojo's perplexed expression amuses Sukuna and the King of Curses asks what's on his opponent's mind. Gojo taunts him for trying so hard but the comment is turned back at him. Sukuna explains that he wanted to deal with Unlimited Void first by using domain amplification to fight while Megumi bore the process of Mahoraga's adaptation. This meant Sukuna couldn't use his innate techniques but the gamble paid off in the end.
Megumi's soul bears the process of Mahoraga's adaptation.
Gojo tells Sukuna that Megumi's soul took on the process of adaptation but Mahoraga was the one who adapted, not Sukuna. He believes this battle will end if he opens his domain again because he can destroy Mahoraga in a single attack. However, Gojo's attempt to expand his domain fails and blood pours out of his nose. This not only surprises Gojo but confirms the bad feeling Yuta has had since learning his sensei can somehow recover his exhausted technique with reverse cursed technique. Sukuna reveals that Gojo has been damaging the section of his brain where his innate technique is engraved and then healing it with reverse cursed technique to achieve this. This revelation surprises Gojo's allies, who can hardly believe he's still alive after doing something so reckless multiple times.
Recklessly injuring his brain brings Gojo to his limit.
Purposely injuring his brain five times has brought even Gojo to his limit, one completely different from injuring muscle and bone. Sukuna summons Mahoraga's wheel above his head and threatens to enclose his barrier while simultaneously adapting to the Infinity. He taunts Gojo, calling him mediocre, and says he was only ever the strongest because he was born in an era when the King of Curses wasn't present. Malevolent Shrine is activated but the domain crumbles apart suddenly. Sukuna bleeds profusely from his nose and eyes as well. It was less than ten seconds, but Sukuna was still hit by Unlimited Void during the last domain clash. The damage done to his brain prevents him from using his domain as well.
Neither side yields as battle of the strongest heads to round 2!!
Reinvigorated, Gojo laughs at his opponent for being in the same situation and emphasizes that Unlimited Void had an effect after all. Knowing his students are watching, Gojo tells Sukuna that he's going to keep showing off for them. Gojo gets his second wind and uses Blue to pull Sukuna towards him to land a powerful right hook. This exchange between the strongest reminds Sukuna of Yorozu's words about the solitude that accompanies unparalleled strength and the one who can teach him about love.
