Summary
The strongest sorcerer in history and the strongest sorcerer of today clash in Shinjuku! The first move determines which of the two is the challenger.
Plot Details
Gojo and his allies prepare to fire the first shot.
In the ruined remnants of Shibuya, Satoru Gojo and Kiyotaka Ijichi ascend a skyscraper from the inside and discuss Gojo's time in Prison Realm. Gojo compares his experience inside the cursed object to a fast work week that went by quickly but was extremely exhausting.
Gojo asks what happened to the people who were on B5F in Shibuya Station after the incident. Ijichi tells him that the cursed spirits released by Kenjaku avoided his residuals on that floor and all the survivors were rehabilitated and able to return to their normal lives without lasting effects from Unlimited Void. The duo eventually reach the rooftop where they meet up with Utahime and Gakuganji, who have completed preparations for a particular ritual.
"I must live up to his words. Either that or die trying!"
Meanwhile, in Shinjuku, Sukuna awaits atop another skyscraper with Uraume. They ask Sukuna where the duel is supposed to take place as it was never specified. Sukuna is confident that the setting for the battlefield will become clear. On cue, Sukuna notices Gojo's massive cursed energy in the distance.

Before December 24th, Gakuganji spoke with Gojo about Masamichi Yaga's death. Gakuganji expected Gojo to be upset, but instead, he accepted responsibility for getting sealed. Gojo noticed that Gakuganji never told the higher-ups about Panda's secret and insisted that he's changed as a person. The old members of Jujutsu Headquarters have been slain and Gojo believes things would be better with Gakuganji in charge.
Gojo informed Ijichi of his role before the mission as well. Ijichi didn't understand why he was chosen until Gojo revealed to his friend that he trusted him more than anyone else. Ijichi lays out several talismans and creates a barrier around Gojo, passionately attempting to live up to the strongest sorcerer's faith in him.

Utahime's innate technique, Solo Forbidden Area, amplifies the total cursed energy capacity and output of any sorcerer of her choosing within its range. Gakuganji plays music alongside Utahime's incantations, hand signs, and dances to elevate her technique into a ritual. This boosts its potency to a hundred and twenty percent while Gojo also uses incantations and hand signs to boost his technique.
Gojo reaches two hundred percent and fires a Hollow Purple that rips through numerous streets from Shibuya to Shinjuku directly at Sukuna. Due to Ijichi's barrier, Sukuna misreads Gojo's first move and doesn't notice his opponent's immense output until the last moment. Sukuna tries to block it but the skyscraper crumbles from the force of the attack and both of his reinforced arms are destroyed. The King of Curses descends to street level and regenerates with reverse cursed technique. Gojo warps over to him and sets the stage for a clash between the strongest sorcerer in history and the strongest sorcerer of today. Having successfully drawn first blood, Gojo taunts Sukuna by calling him the challenger.
