The Ripening, Part 2 ( () む② Umu 2?) is the two hundred and twelfth chapter of Gege Akutami's Jujutsu Kaisen.

Summary[]

Megumi's plan to rescue Tsumiki completely backfires when an incarnated sorcerer reveals they've been impersonating her the whole time. Before Megumi's allies can properly respond, Sukuna finally makes his move.

Plot Details[]

Yorozu adds Rule 12

"Tsumiki" suddenly adds a different rule to the Culling Game.

Back when Tsumiki first woke up, Megumi went to visit her in the hospital. They discussed the Culling Game and what happened to Gojo but Megumi assured her that he and his comrades would handle things. Megumi says Tsumiki can go back to sleep and she replied with an uncharacteristically devious smile on her face. When the siblings reunited in the Culling Game, Yuji came to terms with his role in the jujutsu world as the plan appeared to be coming to a close. He is grateful to Megumi and Gojo for giving him a role to play.

However, currently, Megumi's plan is going awry as Tsumiki adds a rule allowing entry and exit across colony borders. As the grim reality sets in on Megumi, he asks who this imposter is. "Tsumiki" dons a sinister grin across her face and taunts Megumi, claiming to be his big sister. When a cursed object takes on flesh, it gains memories and knowledge of the modern age from its vessel's brain. Megumi realizes he was wrong to assume that Tsumiki was the awakened type of player, as she used Tsumiki's memories to impersonate her. Yuji isn't sure what's happening and desperately asks for clarification while Megumi is stunned. The imposter makes a joke of the exchange and introduces herself as Yorozu, a sorcerer from the past who's incarnated into Tsumiki's body.

Enchain

"En... chain."

Megumi asks why Yorozu decided to impersonate Tsumiki. Yorozu explains she was happy to take the points they offered her in order to choose her battlefield and fight Sukuna. She flies off and Yuji tries to pursue her with Hana. However, a mouth suddenly appears on his face and says "Enchain", the activation word for the binding vow Sukuna forced upon Yuji when he died. By invoking the vow, Sukuna has taken over Yuji's body for a full minute.

Sukuna takes over Megumi

Sukuna incarnates into Megumi.

Sukuna knocks Hana unconscious but does so without injuring her per the terms of the binding vow. He reveals he can't injure anyone and Megumi asks why he's appearing now of all times. Sukuna says it's a gamble and then splits his soul into one of his fingers. He waits a moment after tearing it off and then laughs once he knows for sure he hasn't broken the binding vow. This confirms that Yuji didn't include himself among the people Sukuna was allowed to injure, which the King of Curses emphasizes was a foolish mistake.

Megumi attempts to summon Mahoraga but Sukuna uses his speed to interrupt the necessary hand signs. Sukuna forces Megumi to eat his severed pinky finger and incarnates into his body. Sukuna leaves Yuji's body entirely and has taken possession of Megumi. As Yuji looks to see that his friend has been taken over, Sukuna reminds him of the time that he told the sorcerer he'd see something interesting.
