Offering to the Unknown, Part 2 (
Summary
Megumi and company learn the gruesome truth behind the military's invasion of the colonies. Yuji and the Angel disagree about how to intervene, with the latter wanting to stay out of it. However, Hana aspires to be like Megumi, who unbeknownst to him, rescued her in the past and inspired her to help others.
Plot Details
"We all knew that thing wasn't our mother."
Several years ago in a dark, broken-down abandoned house, three girls were trapped by a cursed spirit. The curse watched over them, fed them inedible meals, and left them in filthy conditions. The girls played along but they all knew that thing wasn't their mother
In the present day, Yuji, Megumi, Hana, and Fumihiko have easily dispatched the soldiers and are now interrogating their local guide. They learn about the plan to turn cursed energy into a renewable resource. Fumihiko comically chastizes the soldier for being a traitor and Hana comments that she's surprised the idea never came up in Japan. Megumi explains that jujutsu headquarters are far too prideful to popularize sorcery. The soldier agrees because Japan is a place that emphasizes self-responsibility.
Yuji volunteers to stop the massacre.
Megumi figures out that the prospect of alternative energy was simply bait to lead the military into the colonies to be slaughtered by cursed spirits. The Angel adds that doing so will fill the colonies with cursed energy and complete the pre-merger with Tengen. With this revelation, Megumi wonders if the rules were used to intentionally complicate Culling Game in order to hide Kenjaku's true intentions. This is similar to what Reggie Star predicted would happen.
Hana commits to saving people, just as Megumi once saved her.
Yuji suggests they save the soldiers and Megumi agrees as they need to prevent the merger. However, the Angel refuses to drag Hana into unnecessary fighting and reveals the Tokyo colony already has enough cursed energy. Yuji isn't worried about the merger and simply wants to save the lives of the soldiers. He states that he'll act regardless of their help and says he never trusted "any of you". Hana asks who Yuji was talking to and responds by telling him how rude his comment was.
Meanwhile, a cursed spirit is fishing by using soldiers as bait on its hook. It lowers them down into a pit of fish-like curses that bite at the hook, only to be fed to other hungry curses behind the fisherman. The next soldier to be put on the hook is shaken by this horrific sight and doesn't want to die this way. Soldiers are always prepared to die but they never expected this. Fortunately, a light shines down on the soldier and Hana Kurusu comes to his rescue. Yuji and Megumi move through the streets to save lives as well. Megumi asks him what his "any of you" comment was all about. He knows Yuuji was directing it at the Angel and Sukuuna.

Hana was among the girls who were trapped in the abandoned house with the cursed spirit. Everyone knew that it wasn't their mother but anyone who spoke up would disappear. She was there for over a year until she followed a dog out, one with a fluffy white tail. This hound was none other than Megumi's Divine Dog. Megumi and Hana were only around five or six at the time and he was with Gojo. She knew they would meet again, believing it was fate.
Hana still believes it was fate to this day and she decides to save people so she can become someone worthy of standing by Megumi's side. Megumi tells Yuji that normally he'd be more considerate of Hana's feelings. Yuji admits ever since meeting Hana, he's been afraid of her replacing Nobara in their hearts. Megumi tells him not to be foolish and Yuji says he will apologize later. Hana descends in front of the two boys and asks Yuji if there is anything he wants to say to her.
