Blood and Oil, Part 2 (
Summary
Choso volunteers himself as the first line of defense against Kenjaku's infiltration of the Tombs of the Star. Yuki Tsukumo warns him that he'll be killed, but Choso will do anything to destroy his estranged father and ensure the safety of his brothers.
Plot Details
Before confronting his father, Choso strategized at a table with Yuki and Tengen. He offered himself to go first and fight Kenjaku alone before Yuki. Yuki replied to this proposition by simply telling Choso that he would die. Choso knows he would only hold Yuki back if they fought together and offered to draw out Kenjaku's cursed techniques and even his domain if possible. Once Choso forces Kenjaku to reveal his hand, Yuki can strike. Even with these added details, Yuki repeated that Choso would die. Even so, Choso stated that wasn't important to him so long as his brothers were safe.
In the present, Choso fires Piercing Blood directly at Kenjaku to begin their fight. The curse user bends backward to avoid the attack while summoning a small cursed spirit to crawl along the blood beam. Choso bends the beam to tear the curse apart and rips up the floor in the process. Kenjaku rides the momentum of the debris and throws one of the destroyed stones at his opponent. Choso believes Kenjaku is underestimating him but curses suddenly appear from behind the rock to take him by surprise. Choso acts quickly throws compressed blood at the curses, using Supernova to blow them up. Kenjaku uses the division to close the distance and lands consecutive unarmed hits. He knocks Choso back but the blood manipulator leaves compressed blood behind and explodes it at point-blank range next to Kenjaku using Supernova.
Kenjaku protects himself using a cursed spirit as a shield. Choso asks him what he wants from Yuji but claims Yuji's only role was to serve as a vessel for Sukuna. He claims Yuji is a signal fire for the continuing chain of curses and the eye of the storm for a new age. This irritates Choso, who fires another Piercing Blood at his father, which Kenjaku casually avoids with contempt. Choso rejects Kenjaku's notion that Yuji is the cause of suffering and directs that responsibility back on the curse user.
Cursed spirits suddenly restrain Choso's feet from underneath the floor while he's distracted. Kenjaku knocks Choso to the ground and pummels him with stomps while gloating that he already knows the Death Painting Womb is only trying to get him to reveal his abilities to Yuki. Kenjaku has only been manipulating weak cursed spirits and insults Choso by saying maybe even that isn't necessary for victory. He continues by calling Choso and his brothers for being failed creations and says the eldest brother should be grateful high expectations were ever placed upon them. Irate, Choso attempts to grab Kenjaku's leg but the curse user creates a swarm of centipede-like curses to knock Choso away. That swarm takes Choso into the air and then slams him into the ground, tearing apart his clothes and severely injuring him.
Nearing victory, Kenjaku boasts that for a sorcerer, the rank of special grade signifies the power to overthrow nations. This is obviously true for Satoru Gojo, but Suguru Geto's Cursed Spirit Manipulation can command an army of demons. Weak curses can be reinforced with cursed energy and overwhelm fighters of even Choso's caliber.
With Choso close to defeat, Tengen urges Yuki to take action. However, Yuki tells them to wait as she believes Choso has more to offer. Disappointed in himself, Choso believes he's failed as a big brother because he hasn't even landed a hit in this fight. Despite his failure so far, Choso gets up and continues fighting to punish his father for calling his brothers uninteresting. Shouting for the younger brothers of the Death Painting Wombs to fire, Choso gets his second wind and draws strength from the thoughts of his siblings.

In volume 21, I’ve fixed the incorrect scoring and also the part where I spoiled my own story. |
