Summary

Plot Details

Charles attacking Hakari

Charles attacks Hakari with G Warstaff.

Ready to fight Hakari over his rude comments, Charles conjures a cursed tool called G Warstaff, a pen-shaped spear connected to his innate technique. Charles' attack bursts through their pod of the ferris wheel, forcing Hakari outside on top of the attraction where the assault continues. Charles thrusts his spear at Hakari's head several times while quoting a "poem" from a creator he admires. Hakari avoids the strikes and jumps off the ferris wheel onto a building below where Charles follows. He's annoyed because Charles is actually quoting a creator's comment from Katsura Hoshino, which Hakari does not consider a poem.

Charles continues by explaining that mangaka enter a fictitious space in their minds where anything is possible because reality isn't satisfying. Charles believes his reality has been overtaken by jujutsu and has lost his motivation as both a manga reader and creator as a result. He asks Hakari what that feeling is called and the Jujutsu High student replies with boredom. As his fighting spirit rises, Charles suggests that feeling is actually called despair.

G Warstaff's effect

Charles peering into Hakari's future.

Fueled by his sorrow, Charles strikes hard with his G Warstaff and scratches Hakari's cheek open, drawing a bit of blood onto the pen's tip. Hakari asks if it's okay for a mangaka to use their drawing pen for violence but Charles argues using a reference from Captain Tsubasa. The blood fills the pen's condition for Charles' cursed technique and marks Hakari with a glowing square. Hakari inquires about the square as he throws a flying kick but Charles is able to avoid it and immediately counterattacks, surprising the former. Hakari is hit off the building but he maintains his balance as he's knocked back several meters from the blow. Hakari analyzes the way Charles moved and quickly realizes it has to be more than a simple reflex.

Hakari attacking Charles' blindspot

"I'll attack from your blind spots and press you hard!"

Charles taunts Hakari for finally removing his hands from his pockets and explains that the glowing square is actually a manga panel that lets the user see their opponent's next move. At present, Charles can only see one second in advance but as the pen tip fills with more ofHakari's blood, the former will be able to see further into the future. Hakari dashes straight at Charles to confirm this ability for himself and nearly lands a powerful right hook the latter admits would've taken him out if not for the effect of G Warstaff. Charles counters and hits Hakari across the head with the blunt end of his spear, affirming for him that Charles really can see the future.

Kinji activates his Domain Expansion

Domain Expansion: Idle Death Gamble.

However, Hakari is unimpressed and immediately disappears from Charles' line of sight. He punches Charles in the back and states that his opponent still needs to confirm with his eyes in order to see the future. To counter, Hakari attacks Charles repeatedly from his blindspots without letting up and the latter takes note of Hakari's rough cursed energy. Charles tries to adjust by targeting his own blindspot but Hakari anticipates this and catches the weapon before striking again. Before Charles can turn around and recover, Hakari blitzes him and reveals he can't go easy because he knows the despairing mangaka would just selfishly attack someone else. Hakari believes he will need to utterly break Charles and hits him with another powerful punch. When Hakari gets behind him again and Charles is able to recover and strike his blindspot, slightly cutting Hakari's forehead.

Irate, Charles claims that the vessel containing his heart is broken and is now only capable of spilling out in a gush of emotion. He adds that he can see two seconds into Hakari's future and will be waiting in his blind spot. Confused as to why Hakari isn't intimidated, Charles asks his opponent why he's posing in this situation. Hakari uses both his hands to form the proper hand sign to cast his domain expansion, Idle Death Gamble. Due to his domain's guaranteed effect, its rules are instantly transmitted to Charles' brain.
